I’m starting a new build-in-public project: oomwoo, an open-source robot vacuum you build yourself. Raspberry Pi, ROS 2, 2D LiDAR, Home Assistant, 3D printed, local-first — and open from the first commit.

Lobsters.

I would love to see it eventually have the awesome Valetudo UI and MQTT support!

Ah yes, “open from the first commit” - follow along. That is if you do GitHub, Discord, YouTube, Reddit and… drumroll X.

I was excited for a brief second.

This isn’t about using also the usual suspects. It’s about using only the usual suspects.

Touch grass! That doesn’t ask for your ID. Yet.

You can fork it from github to whatever service you want, or your own drive. Or tell the maintainer what you think and hope they make a mirror? I hate Github and the rest as much as you do. But this is a very promising free project and I am glad for it. Even if they use X… Ugh
