    Wheat prices have been massively depressed due to uncertainty in the export market. Some dumbfuck decided to fuck around tariffs.

    The cost of inputs and equipment has climbed rapidly due to import costs. This is due to the creation oligopolies in the supply chain for the past 20 years. Oh and some dumbfuck decided to fuck around with tariffs.

    Dryland wheat is also only a viable business for millions of acres because of government subsidies (millions of acres of environmental damage for nada). Oh and some dumbfuck decided to layoff the people cutting the checks to the farmers.

    Then a massive drought occured because a whole bunch of dumbfucks don’t believe that dumping carbon into the atmosphere that has been locked up for hundreds of millions of years will fuck up the planet.

    There is more dumbfuckery involved but that’s a start.
