This could go in a lot of sections (privacy, open source, Linux, degoogle…) but I thought it best to put it here.
In the last couple of weeks I’ve given a new lease of life to a ten year old Lenovo Windows 10 machine, and a six year old Chromebook, by installing Mint on both (Mint XCFE on the latter as its not as beefy as the laptop).
Both now run really fast, are running on wonderful open source software, and are more secure than ever. Needless to say I am pleased to have nuked Microsoft and Google from the equation.
That’s all really. A huge thank you to Linux Mint and all who sail in her. I appreciate each of you.
❤️
Edit: Superwide is work machine. Can’t get away from Windows on that unfortunately.
What are the specs on that Chromebook? I once installed GalliumOS on one. But it seemed to never put out updates.
It’s Lenovo S340, 14", 64GB SSD, Intel Celeron, 4GB RAM, HD screen.
Edit: Done.
I’ll update this post with full spec tomorrow when I’m back in front of it. 👌🏼Yeah, I don’t think my SSD was that large.
