I’ve been thinking about this while designing a habit tracker.
A lot of apps try to motivate people with streaks, badges, or notifications.
I’m experimenting with something different: treating your habits like progression in a game. Completing habits earns resources, which you can use to build and customize your character over time.
The idea isn’t to turn life into a game for the sake of it.
It’s to make the process of showing up every day feel rewarding, even when the real-life results take weeks or months to notice.
Do you think game mechanics genuinely help people stay consistent, or do they eventually become another layer that people ignore?
I’d love to hear from anyone who’s used apps like Habitica, Finch, or other gamified tools. What kept you coming back, or what made you stop?
Working on a demo so you don’t have to create an account right away.
