For years I’d hear people say, “Just do cardio.”
I’d do it for a week, get bored, and stop.
A few weeks ago I changed one thing.
Instead of jumping rope because “it’s healthy,” I started doing 20 minutes every day to improve my footwork for table tennis.
That tiny shift completely changed how I looked at it.
Now every session has a purpose. I’m not just burning calories. I’m practicing faster movement, better coordination, and building endurance for a sport I actually enjoy.
It’s made me wonder if the reason so many habits fail is because they’re too abstract.
“Exercise.”
“Read.”
“Meditate.”
Those are goals.
But attaching a habit to something you genuinely care about gives it a reason to exist beyond simply checking a box.
Have you ever had a habit suddenly become easier because you connected it to something meaningful rather than just trying to be “more disciplined”?
I’d love to hear your examples because I’m always looking for ideas that make habits feel more natural instead of forced.
