I prefer the Johnny Cash version honestly, so does Trent Reznor!
if you take the distortion out of metal you basically get surf rock
One of my favourite bands Pain of Salvation covered a bunch of their old songs acoustically.
I found a YouTube link in your comment. Here are links to the same video on alternative frontends that protect your privacy:
The Silent Man (Dream Theater)
A rare acoustic song from the man himself
I love early DT, thanks comrade!

Found (the unexpected flaw of searching) - Riverside
I believe - Riverside
Coda - Riverside
Yes, I like riverside lmao
Тёмная ночь (tyomnaya noch’), classic soviet ww2 song, very sad and beautiful, originally for piano but works great with acoustic guitar
Life eternal - Ghost, also can be adapted nicely to acoustic and sound super beautiful
He Is - Ghost, amazing love song to Satan, melts my heart
Trains - Porcupine Tree. Pros: talks about trains. Cons: I think the singer is a known zio
Undertow - Pain of Salvation, my favourite band for when I want to feel sad and toxic
Ashes - Pain of Salvation
I actually wanted to learn more revolutionary songs, but I can’t play them to everyone unfortunately. I already know “¡Ay Carmela!” and “Bella Ciao”.
As for the PT, I prefer to separate art from artist as long as the song isn’t inherently reactionary or artist is a total pos like Gene Simmons.
