The UK is banning high-caffeine drinks for under-16s. How does coffee compare?

The British government wants to ban the sale of high-caffeine energy drinks to people under the age of 16. But how do they compare to coffee, tea and other beverages many people regularly consume? And what's the situation here in Australia?

But those stupid freakshakes you get at pubs are ok. Monster is bad for a 14 year old but 2500 calories of freakshake is bad too! Maybe parents should keep better track of what their kids consume.

Isn’t that the point, monster drinks are substantially more accessible to the average 14 year old while not under adult supervision than freakshakes.

True. I just really hate freakshakes.

Monster is a cliché trans meme drink. My comment was something called a joke, which apparently is a new concept to you.

You have such impeccable form as you jump from conclusion to conclusion, sailing right over the joke.

Arguably the sugar levels and serving sizes are a factor in tea and coffee. The dessert beverages are a different story.
