      Oil, gas, copper, uranium, the strategic place in Africa’s horn, ie, the front door for the Red Sea, a base to fight against the Houthis and more importantly: Israel wants it (just the land, they hate the people: look for Somali Jews in Israel).

      It sits across from Yemen and Somaliland is friendly with Israel. If Somaliland were to establish adequate control over the rest of Somalia it could be used to counter the Yemeni blockade. There are probably a lot of other reasons as we have been bombing Somalia for far longer than this year but I have a suspicion that this is at least one of the reasons.
