Who cares at this point. The ram consumption is one problem on a long list that is growing faster that MS could ever hope to fix them.

I use windows at work and every day they amaze me with a new silly bug. Today’s but was Excel whenever I refresh power query it’ll shift all cells 2 columns to the right.
That was quick, I feel like they just acknowledged the performance issues a few months ago. It’s kind of shocking to see a release to fix some things so quickly. I know we all knew of this for years now, and I am sure they have been working on this longer than when they announced it, but I really didn’t expect anything until next year honestly. If anything I figured it would have been part of the next version update since this is exactly the kind of changes you expect from those updates.
