i wonder how long that propaganda that informs the western world’s view on china will last considering that it’s taken on a life of its own in the minds of westerners.

the entire western world seems to be caught in this echo chamber that encompasses the entire global north – along with a significant chunk of the periphery – that was originally started by organized efforts like COINTELPRO, but has become self sustaining as evidenced by things like wikipedia’s consensus driven vetting system that openly reinforces narratives that are denied by official documentation like the freedom of information act and both social and legacy media doing the same thing.

to be clear: there’s still organized efforts like usaid; national endowment for democracy; radio free asia; etc that still peddle propaganda, but the propaganda is now clearly self reinforced by the social fabric of western society and can be easily seen in examples like the american voting population’s unwillingness to eschew its deeply unpopular political duopoly despite mexico proving that the tactics that the americans themselves pioneered during the civil rights movements of the 1960’s are still effective at moving the overton window to the left and effectively neutering its own deeply unpopular political duopoly.

the mexican example proves that the american social fabric is informed by half truths about MLK jr’s legacy of non-violence and it makes them unwilling to protest like the previous generation of americans did – like the mexican did in 2017-- and he fact that americans are unaware that this had happened despite videos of it plastered all over social media, along with the extensive amount of cross cultural exchange, strongly suggest that the global north echo chamber is powerful enough to outlast its origins and will take many generations to dispel – if ever at all before climate change gets bad enough to force human civilizational change.
