Basically every generation has their semi-unique way of being fucked up in some angle, some I’d say worse than others, but either way the kids were never alright and the adults that they became were also just as not alright. However I feel like the creation of the internet and the ocean of horrible shit you can find here, it feels like it should do more shit to this generation than the previous. You have porn sites, which, yeah, porn and media like it has always existed but porn is at your fingertip, that HAS to do something, you have sites where you can just watch people die and get murdered at the tip of your fingers, you have sites where you can coagulate with a bunch of other randoms and echo chamber around all of your hateful and antisocial ideas until it pushes you over the edge and you shoot up a school, or some other shit of the like. All of this shit at the snap of a finger FEELS like it’s going to deal a big number on the kids and adults these days, but how much, what will it look like? How badly will this spiral when it comes to the next generation? There’s so much shit it feels nebulous, or maybe someone already figured it out, who knows, I sure don’t.
This is true, and falls under [feature of capitalism].
Though I will note there’s a lot of people - albeit still a definite minority - who primarily engage with pornography through forms that, even in the case of wage slavery, aren’t particularly more harmful than any job as an artist or writer who has to make stuff other people want to meet ends meet.
Even beyond that, there’s really no good evidence for the consumption of porn being inherently harmful, regardless of the morality of the work’s production.
