Before internet porn supplanted them some guys would hide their porn mags in the woods so that their wives/mothers wouldn’t find them. Porn was significantly more taboo at the time and some considered it tantamount to cheating. Playing in the woods as a kid you would occasionally stumble on these caches and if word slipped to “the adults” then there would be a lot of “well they’re not mine” conversations among them.
Actually now I think about it this is probably a specifically anglo thing. Euros probably just left their porn mags on the kitchen table
If i found a stash of guns in the woods, I would not associate it with a foreign nation as much as I would be very, very scared that i stumbled into a “I am being hunted” scenario
