TIL that one of our neighbouring towns (Forchheim) also has a myth that Pontius Pilate has been born there.
Seems to have been a popular guy that so many claim him to be one of their own kind :-)Oh, very cool, thanks for sharing!
Yea, Pilate is a historically popular figure considering he’s the one believed to have ordered the crucifixion of Christ. I would have thought he’d be held in lower regard, but I feel like he’s always portrayed as a wise leader or vaunted figure in stories. Maybe that depiction depends on the sect telling the story.

Just skimmed his Wikipedia article: In some flavors of Christianity he apparently is even considered a saint.
And generally he is not seen as a bad person, but a necessary, if tragic one, and a human witness for the things Christ had to go through.
Actually interesting.Very, I can see how Pilate’s role could be understood as a necessary component central to the formation and growth of a religion that depends on a martyr.
I can see how the Roman Catholic Church spent early propaganda efforts on shifting the blame away from Rome is what I can see.
makes plenty of sense, can’t see why they wouldn’t.
I heard it was Johnny Cash?
Hey, with that long a history, someone named Johnny Cash must have played in that tree.
