NSW government to make pill testing permanent after successful trial

The Minns government will provide a drug checking service at up to 15 music festivals per year in the state, beginning in October.

From October, a pill testing service will be made available at up to 15 music festivals per year in NSW.

In announcing the permanent service, Health Minister Ryan Park says it is “not a silver bullet” and will not endorse drug use.

The move was praised by Jennie Ross-King, whose daughter Alex died of an MDMA overdose at a Sydney festival in 2019.

    I know someone who recently died at a festival because of tainted drugs. ALWAYS TEST YOUR DRUGS

    Edited: I’m very glad they’re allowing this and harm reduction is always the best course. Hopefully it spreads

    Oooooh I thought people would be testing the drugs they hand out… They’re testing the people’s drugs. That makes much more sense. Though unrelated: I now have an innovative idea for how to conduct short-term real-world psychedelic drug studies
