Designating a collective that has been active for over twenty years in the European civil and digital rights movement—and has always operated openly—as a terrorist organization is part of the technological war that the United States is waging against anyone who asserts autonomy over digital networks and infrastructure […]
Banning protest is terrorism though
This should be the final wake up call for the EU to create souvereign IT infrastructure and stop relying on the US (and any other non-EU/EFTA country) for essential communication infrastructure and services.
It worries me how much stuff I have on American hosted servers. Photos, email, authorizations for other services, documents, backups, etc. Access to all that seems to depend on the whims of a foreign leader. (I’m not American). If all it takes to get put on a list is disagree with him, I better at least make local backups.
Syncthing is your friend
Start moving your stuff to european hosters as soon as possible.
Don‘t use US cloud services, look into hosted nextcloud if you want an easy way to be in control of your data without having to selfhost everything.
Hetzner in Germany or Infomaniak in Switzerland are great starting points.
While I agree with you, that’s not going to happen, because the EU itself is a fascist organization. They also want total information awareness and control over every aspect of your life. Right now, they can wring hands and point at USA, but they will do it, independent of the USA, as well, without the masses organizing and some civil disobedience.
Eu a fascist organization? WTF - stop drinking lead…
You have to understand that to American snowflakes any hint of community focus is fascism. The slightest suggestion of collective action is trampling on their God-given right to be shitheads to each other.
Not at all and I’m a bit surprised this is coming from you, of all people. Look around you at how much Europe kisses the boot of the US. Further, any treats are taken at the expense of LatAm and Asia, NATO is king, and a deep hostility to Russia, China, Iran because… They exist.
Hmm wonder why Europe doesn’t like Russia I have no idea why.
They love Israel, though:
