We witness the same pattern over and over. A tech project is declared “apolitical,” and defines any accommodation of marginalized contributors as a political act, and keeps the actual politics of the maintainers—nostalgia for ethnically white homogeneous cities and hostility to gender-neutral pronouns—off the table entirely. Because that’s just, you know, how they feel. “Apolitical” has never meant a lack of politics. It’s meant politics that current power doesn’t have to defend.
I’ve had my personal run-in with these dorks at NixOS. The response of the NixOS foundation to having heard mentioned that one of their elected council members is a murderous USian fascist is an exasperated “Oh come on!!!”
Currently eying Gentoo because it’s a meta-distribution that is structured to be highly decentralized and fault tolerant. Also they banned AI contributions so that’s a big plus.

“Open Source” is such a bootlicking culture of losers who do free labor for companies. They all basically want to become DHH and be the intellectual, effective altruist CEOs of the world.
Yeah, even the term open source in relation to software development was popularized by Eric S. Raymond, a literal card-carrrying member of the Libertarian party in the US.
I maintain a couple of popular-in-very-small-niches web apps, every single one licensed under the AGPL v3. I get angry emails on a weekly basis from libertarian nuts who demand that I re-license them under BSD/MIT type licenses instead. I’ve even had some of those assholes say that they’re going to report my github account to Microsoft for using a “communist license”. Which just goes to show that they’re also idiots, because I self-host the git repos and don’t even have a github account.

I am really confused about why all these organisations feel compelled to donate to Omarchy. It feels like either money laundering or trying to curry favour with the fascist Ruby on Rails guy.
Edit: Also I dare Framework to preload their computers with Omarchy if they think it is a project worth supporting.
Some of them have high ranks at orgs where DHH has leadership position. Shopify and 37signals at least
12 mil for fascist dotfiles and bash scripts though. Like if it was a business I’d understand but 12 mil for something like this is ludicrous.
