Actually, the reason for all the similarities is because nepotistic despots all tend to follow the same playbook.

But the people for whom the book of revelation was written knew it was speaking of Nero. When his name was translated to Hebrew and Gemara applied to get a number it comes out as 666. Or 616, in the contemporary Greek translation, since Nero Kaiser is pronounced Neron Kaiser.

There was also the cult that believed Nero returned from the dead (Nero Redivivus).

It should be noted that all prophetic works are messages to people in a time and place, and understanding them requires understanding those people. Much of what modern christians now say about is little more than copium scraped off the wall.

Jesus said he’d return and then do all the messianic things he didn’t do the first time.

Then jesus didn’t come back because he was preparing for a war.

Then Jesus didn’t comeback because he was fighting that war. Then all the disciples died and it just started getting weird from there

Real world Binding of Isaac. (sorry, I’ve been playing it a lot lately)

For reals though, what a fucked up situation. I hope she’s able to get the help she needs, preferably with a secular backbone and break the stranglehold Christianity has on her.

I didn’t think Isaac was seen as the anti-christ. I understood it as more of an Abraham thing. Mom was told to kill Issac to keep him… pure? By The Lost, if the cutscene is any indication.

Shows I haven’t played nearly enough… Think I’ve only unlocked ~6 characters. Although in the beginning cut-scene, wasn’t it that Isaac was to be sacrificed to show how much she loves her god? For a rogue-like, it goes crazy deep.

I used to just watch Hutts and see his over the top builds, but finally got it on sale.

Oh my sweet child. You are in for a LOT of fun with the game. Isaac is my comfy game. I have so many new games to play, but instead I boot up an Eden run and play it out. I don’t have infinity %. I just play on one file. Completed it on Switch, then downloaded a 100% file for my steam deck so I could have mods. If you ever get stuck, just focus on the sticky note. If you get stuck again, the wiki is your friend.

As for the cutscene I mentioned, it was a “between floor” cutscene. Seen here.

if you believe that babies go to heaven because they’re innocent or whatever… and that god is real and will throw kids into hell once they’re old enough to be culpable, unless they perform certain weird ritual blood magic invoking the human sacrifice at the center of the cult…

it’s totally reasonable to off your kids before they’re too old…

No. this is not to say she’s not crazy. but that’s the religion for you.

If we have to respect religions, allow them to be tax free, and allow a promise on some book to verify that we’re telling the truth, then we have to believe that this woman is telling the truth.

Or we can accept that religion fucks people’s minds, leaders of religion take money under false pretences, and gullible people are being taken advantage of by these charlatans.

Pick one. You can’t have it both ways.
