In the US, on eBay you can get a used Pixel 7 Pro for around $200. It’s a flagship from a few years ago, and you can install GrapheneOS. I’m willing to bet it’s more powerful than this phone, too. I’d always recommend something like that first. Maybe not as feasible for people overseas though?
nah, same-ish in eu… i tend to go for the really low end (motorola usually has a phone for about 100-200€) cos i only really use lemmy, calls, messaging and bank (the one that doesn’t let me switch to custom full time D:) and they usually last me at least 2 years… don’t think a flagship would last me 10 tbh x)

What’s the use of having 2 sim slots?
Is it for people who live in one country and work in another?
I use one for my work number and one for my not-work number.
Can’t you buy a number and redirect it to another number?
I require 2 SIMs right now because I don’t have another good enough anti-spam measure.
But if I can get a Linux phone, I can make my own anti-spam measures, so it should be fine, hopefully.
Well, I just got the regular 6, the battery lasts for a day even with battery protection on (only charge to 80), and there is now plenty of cases. The single sim slot issue can be solved by moving to an eSim. So… Get the 6?

If it’s built like the fairphone 4 it doesn’t need a case. I’ve used mine without it for some years now and I’m a clumsy mf, and all it has is some minor dents and scratches on the metal frame.
Edit : the battery is kind of shit especially as it ages, but you can also have several ones and swap them out ! Personally I just have a portable powerbank

Headphone Jack, I can understand, but radio? Why radio?
In some countries, FM Radio is one of the official channels for alerts and information in case of crisis.
People are expected to have a FM receiver that runs on battery, ideally one that can be recharged with a crank or solar panel.
If Internet goes down, either during a small or large-scale outage, it’s good to have a way to get broadcast and information.
I use the radio in my phone all the time. There are a lot of good stations around here to listen to. Cell service sucks though, so there are a lot of dropouts if I try to listen online. It’s also a good way to get important information if there’s a widespread emergency.

I would guess free access to information / entertainment etc. And radio and headphone go together because headphone is used as antenna.
Interesting. I didn’t know about the antenna. Personally haven’t actively listened to a radio in what feels like 20 years. There doesn’t seem to be anything worth listening to on there, to me at least. There’s a much bigger variety online.
But to each their own. I don’t know any phones that still have radio. Do they still exist?
As much as I would like it, nothing has radio these days. But does make sense without data plans /internet
I understand but if anyone getting money for android phone, they seem to be one of the best options.
