I have a belly. Wanted to see if I can flatten it a bit, since I have read that lower hip to waist ratio is generally linked to reduced chance for some diseases. I am currently in the healthy range, but thinking about going a bit lower so that I would be more near the middle of that range.
Also, had read about visceral fat n all.
In the past I had tried reducing carb intake and it saw some progress. But my face slimmed out faster and veins in my forehead could be seen more when I laugh hard etc.
So, stalled it there after a relative noted that.
Currently have been working out 3 times a week with simple bodyweight exercises. Can do more reps now and it is cool.
If anyone has reduced their belly size without greatly affecting face shape, what all did you do? Or is it a thing that is based on body type? Any suggestions or advice?
Sorry not much you can do. Veins are attractive imo, but yeah you can’t control where you lose fat from
Consider putting on muscle, it will help you look more “fit” and you can keep the same level of body fat that you want for your face.
You basically can’t do targeted body fat drops, it just goes and appears where it wants. But by adding more muscle underneath the fat it makes the fat look less prevalent. The more muscle you put on the bigger the aesthetic change is at the same body fat %
Thank you. Will increasing muscle help in adjusting the things generally linked to the hip to waist ratio recommendations too?
I’m not a doctor so take this with a grain of salt.
But stuff like waist to hip ratios is just a vibes based way of measuring body fat %. And the observation being that higher body fat % correlates with higher disease chances. If you are worried about dropping your body fat % low enough to actually lose the fat on your face I don’t think you are high enough % for this to apply to you.
If you actually want an accurate body fat % you should look into a getting a DEXA scan, it’s the only thing that isn’t vibes based. Otherwise just look up an online visual chart and look at healthy ranges.
Thank you
pretty sure that’s not how it works.
Yep, have read about spot reduction being mostly insignificant or unrealistic.
Wanted to know if there were some options to influence or if there are exercises or food choices that would help for keeping the veins from being too visible.
best you can do is build muscle in places and i don’t think there’s such a thing as a weight regimen for your face. if your forehead is the only problem you could change your hair style or be a hat person.
As @TheFermentalist@reddthat.com says, spot reduction is a myth. If you want to lose fat, go into a calorie deficit.
That said, if you’re trying to retain size, you can try and body recomp. But remember the first place fat appears is the last place it leaves, which is basically the stomach for everyone.
Nope. Fat will disappear from wherever it has accumulated.
You’re blessed ngl. I had a chubby face no matter how hard I cut
