Zack Polanski is literally the only thing keeping the right-wing press from branding the Green Party as anti-Semitic - especially after the recent ill-advised vote on Zionism.
He’s also the reason that at one point the Greens were polling better than Labour.
Getting rid of him would be a disaster. The Green Party is pretty much the biggest party that is actually democratic. As I mentioned, I don’t think the recent Zionism vote was a good move (and it has certainly tanked their performance in the polls), but it was tabled and voted on democratically.
Why don’t people like the Zionism vote, surely most people here don’t support the genocide committed by Israel?
They got way too ambitious. Not only did they require a 1-state solution (not even Hamas go that far) but they also mandated that whatever solution would only be valid if ratified by a vote by… the members of the Green Party of England and Wales. The arbiters of peace. Essentially sabre rattling and backdoor colonialism. Not a realistic motion, and ripe for ridicule.
Then theres the slight embarrassment that the person they chose to formally present the motion at congress is an unapologetic and vocal supporter of a convicted Al-Quaeda member currently serving time at His Majesty’s Pleasure for terrorism offences.
they do the right thing but don’t play politics, voters don’t like that, nor do commentors here by the looks, so better to vote Labour, Tory or Reform becase they do ? … of course and then complain endlessy about that. Imagine modelling your politcal party on Reform or Labour, why not just be them ffs.
It’s like being against rasicm but not staying your against racism becase it upsets the racsits.
No they absolutely don’t support it.
The trouble with the vote was they’ve now painted a huge target on themselves for the right-wing media that conflate Zionism with Judaism itself.
The vote hasn’t actually achieved anything positive, but has definitely made the party significantly less attractive to the casual voter.
Were people who think Zionism = Jewish going to vote green in the first place?
especially after the recent ill-advised vote on Zionism.
They really shat the bed. Its not like they were in government and had power to change laws or anything. It was never gonna improve things for Palestinians. It showed them up as a bunch of morons and I wouldn’t be surprised if Polanski walks of his own volition.
Entryism is such a dumb word, it’s essentially coded language for “I don’t like these people’s opinions”. This infighting is one of the biggest problems for the left.
