  • Not Gen Z. But if I’m reading this right, bartenders are annoyed these customers pay for their drinks immediately? That’s definitely the norm in my country and takes maybe 10 seconds for the bartender to grab the eftpos machine and for me to tap my phone to it.

They also bring up the issue that they occupy space. But holy shit, if you don’t want people in your bar, just close down. These bars exist because it’s a place people can go to hang out. If you don’t want to be a welcoming place, you don’t deserve to be in business.

This reads like it was written by an angry, bitter boomer

  • What we do in the shadows. The show is based off the Taika Waititi/Jermaine Clement film of the same name. And is also written by Jermaine Clement

It’s a comedy/mocumentary about a group of vampires. The characters are really well written and it straddles the line between the banality of everyday life as a vampire, and obviously the weird supernatural aspects of vampires. It recently aired it’s final episode so you can binge it now and get through the whole thing.

If you like the office/community/parks and rec/I.T. Crowd type of stuff I think you’ll really like it

  • The initial investment can be steep, but if you stick with buying second hand modules and look for deals, it’s easier. Plus the spending only really goes down over time, at a certain point you realize you have all the modules you need, and you find yourself only buying a module or 2 a year.

Also modular stuff holds its value really well. If you buy second hand, you can basically sell a piece of gear for what you paid for it, so if you get something you don’t love, you don’t lose much.

Having said that, cardinal and vcv rack is great, vcv rack is where I started and I used that for a few years before taking the plunge

  • The phones with those features have been discontinued but they were never unpopular, they were just what phones were.

Nobody 10 years ago was saying “I wish I couldn’t replace my phone battery” or “I hate that I have the option to plug my wired IEMs into my phone”

People just do what people are good at. Adapting.

Manufacturers have taken these options away because it is profitable to do so. People have largely adapted to that (although I still refuse to buy a phone without a headphone jack)
