When I found out that these guys ate spiders as a kid I was super upset I needed to pick sides in the bug war. I chose spiders specifically because I didn’t trust anything that ran away from me that fast. The spiders didn’t have anything to hide.

Dude. Thank you. That was honestly the moment I paid more attention. Before the sub, I was in the general group of people that thought he was just a really out there tech enthusiast who was investing in cool stuff. Trying to mainstream electric vehicles? Cool cool. Free/cheap internet access for all around the world? Sounds great. Getting people interested in space again? Cool cool cool. That marketing team did a great job of keeping him associated with being an innovative, relatable, quirky “genius.” Until he couldn’t get them to use his sub idea to save those boys. His eruption into that multi-week temper tantrum made me actually pay attention to him a bit and I was disgusted. It feels like he must have fired whatever PR team he had during his tantrum and has just been riding off the rails since trying to regain that image of a savior he once had.

I was completely crushed in 2020 when I lost my insurance and went to refill my meds without it. My meds had always been only $10 with insurance and I was so worried about how expensive it would be…it was still only $10. The only thing I used my insurance for was those meds I’d thought and I found out that my insurance wasn’t even apparently covering them. (Meds for an autoimmune disease) Like…what had I been paying for insurance for? Every time I’ve had an emergency I’ve almost always had to pay out of pocket because I don’t have enough things to reach my deductibles. To think of all the thousands I’ve spent over decades paying my insurance monthly is disgusting.

That’s something that’s been on my mind lately. I wouldn’t be able to hide anyone in my home or lay low because I’ve been vocal about my beliefs my whole life. I’ve been to more than enough protests to know there’s some sort of facial recognition on me, and I’ve been vocal enough online in recorded social media. The state of surveillance and tech advances in this age is going to make it difficult for anyone to organize and support each other. There’s almost no way to stay off the radar and everyone has a cell phone and smart speaker at home listening to their every word.

I wish I could give you a hug. My husband is similar, he struggles with emotions and has always been “the calm rock.” Everyone compliments him on his patience and temper, he is an extremely chill person to be around. Because of this, he struggles heavily with any time he does not fulfill that role. His self worth is tied to how much he can fix or do for others and in a non-bothersome way. We’ve been together for about 10 years and he’s gotten more comfortable expressing his emotions but still feels immense shame when he cries or breaks down. Your last sentence is such a good point I’ve never really thought about. I should start paying more attention to how he needs and wants to express those emotions earlier. He’s bottled and masked for so long I don’t think he’s ever been able to give different forms of expression a chance.

When did I say I was a Democrat? Both parties are too far right for me personally. I’m saying you can’t blame the average voter for our 2 party system we’re stuck in. The majority of Americans aren’t happy but how exactly can it be fixed when more than half of them can’t even be bothered to even think of politics? Decades of indifference allowed this, not the people who actually regularly make it to the polls even while pissed with their options.

You’re acting like the only other option wasn’t Trump again. Most people didn’t vote for Biden/Harris because they actually wanted Biden or Harris, but because we’re trapped in a 2 party system in a country where half the population doesn’t even vote.

The really rich uncle paid for it. In the opening you learn their niece lives with them and her parents are in Paris. I believe it’s their ridiculously expensive house in the second movie that is being renovated in NYC as well.

So, the house it was filmed in and suburb they were supposed to be from is “Winnetka” which is a northern suburb and where a lot of exceptionally rich people live. Houses in that area go for millions. Though, it’s possible they were a house broke family. The mom was also supposed to be a fashion designer and it was the uncle who paid for the Paris trip.

Been buying them at my local market for 89¢ each on sale for the past few months. I have seen them for like $1.25 or so at some places though, even though the can says 99¢

While I completely agree, maintaining your items will make them last much longer, I feel the degradation of quality over the years works so much against us. Many items are made these days to not be able to be fixed. Sometimes a digital display or button breaking can brick a well taken care of item. No matter how well you take care of clothes and furniture like your grandparents did, that particle board will fail and that fast fashion shirt will pill. Even high end brands have gone down in quality significantly, so investing more in something you think you trust can still be frustrating. It’s so much energy to figure out what you should invest in vs buy cheaper.

Or I call it, “guest pizza.” Cause I only ever eat it when someone from out of town comes in. Chicago thin crust is where it’s actually at.

Yep, I do have a business out of my hobbies, but I definitely have lost some fire for a couple of those hobbies I now depend on for income.

I watched the behind the scenes for that movie and found out that it wasn’t even drivable. It had to be pulled for all the chase scenes with a cable along the set. Now when I’ve put it on I only look at how the car moves. That’s one of those movies people took too seriously, it was fun.

During the last few years and specifically during 2020 covid the majority of people moving out of my blue state went to Florida, North Carolina, Tennessee, or Texas. Everyone that I knew of that leaned that way basically moved to a swing state.

It kills me …I got into it with a colleague this morning while discussing this very topic. When I brought up that whatever the current trending “bad guy” is, we will always see an increase in hate crimes against that demographic in our own country. When I used the increased attacks on anyone appearing to be slightly middle eastern after 9/11 as an example she angrily spat out that “they’ve killed thousands of us.” And I had to remind her that she was literally giving an example of what we were discussing.

I know you’re probably joking buttttt, I know a ton and can say it’s a mixed bag … Many clowns are like Santa’s and magicians…they’re not the most forward thinking and take themselves waaaay too seriously. Most new age and haunt clowns are cool peeps. It’s the old school “clowning art” gate keepers and the evangelical clowns that tend to be insufferable. Heavy mean girl vibes.
