The marketing must be working, because I’ve seen at least one Brit use “Dairy Milk” as a synonym for milk chocolate. This was on some forum years ago, they were complaining that when they visited the USA they weren’t able to find dairy milk at the grocery store. All the Americans in the thread were like “wtf are you talking about, every grocery store sells milk,” and it took some back and forth for everyone to understand each other.
It also seems a bit redundant, like saying “vegetable broccoli” or “pasta spaghetti.”
I’ve never understood why Cadbury calls milk chocolate “Dairy Milk.” Are there other chocolate bars made with soy milk or almond milk or something like that?
In the novel Accelerando by Charles Stross, a post-singularity intelligence revives various historical figures by studying their writings and creating iterative AIs until one of them reproduces the writings exactly. This means that all the “imperfect” versions are killed.
It can’t be any worse than regular Dutch

Between this and bird flu, I wonder if covid fucked up everyone’s immune systems. Or maybe there’s something about global capitalism that lends itself to spreading respiratory diseases.
I’ll keep wearing a mask for now.

The transition from kingdoms to empires to nation-states created a whole lot of borders that don’t make sense even with the fucked up logic that supposedly liberal democratic nation-states use to describe themselves. Like why is Belgium even a country, what’s tying them together? And their border with the Netherlands has a bunch of stupid little enclaves and exclaves because some dukes or earls or whatever got drunk and traded them back and forth in a card game or something like 400 years ago.
Is this the same mod that caused a bunch of drama on the Contrapoints subreddit a couple years ago? I don’t remember the details but iirc people were calling her a fed then.

If you like Lovecraftian fiction, The Lovecraft Investigations from BBC Radio 4 is a very well produced audio drama in the guise of a true crime podcast: https://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/p06spb8w/episodes/player
Although I guess it breaks the rule of “Don’t give the perpetrators mythological gravitas” since most of the antagonists are literally magicians, aliens, and/or demons
If you can see a regular doctor, you might ask them to run some blood tests to see if you’re low on any particular vitamins. I’ve been taking vitamins D, B, and methyl folate for a while now and they seem to help my energy.
