Actual communist have been forced out since like 1940 when the Germans invaded and immediately began hunting them. After the war, when socialism was at its most popular in Denmark, a bunch of our leaders began purging the unions of anyone with suspected leftist sympathy (i think this happened at roughly the same time as we entered NATO, which is probably a coincidence).

I should also add, Denmark did have it’s own local Gladio-type organisations, but according to the book “NATO’s secret armies”, the danish version was entirely recruited from the young conservatives and was so entirely incompetent that they accidentally revealed their existence while trying to rig an election at the University of Copenhagen in the 70s.

Yeah it’s basically the same in all of Europe / the EU I think. Our workforce in Denmark is quite heavily unionized, but all the unions are led by end-of-history-there-is-no-alternative neoliberals. Though I should also add, that I’m personally quite sour on Danish unions because I happen to belong to the single most useless one in the country, and I’d argue that my union is also one of the most well known.

Our labour unions are really odd. They like going on TV and complaining about various government initiatives, and then when push comes to shove, they always call things off for a 3% raise. I genuinely have no idea how most of the union-leadership isn’t constantly getting couped by the rank and file, given that they have produced nothing of value for the workers they are supposed to represent. When the government declared that they were going to get rid of a public holiday to afford the increased military budget (thanks Biden), the unions went bleeping to the media about a general strike, and then when the government actually got rid of the holiday, nothing fucking happened and instead the union leadership walked away with a triumphant smile, because the government had agreed to let them be racist to polish people.

Well, most of the Danish unions now seem to function as appendages of the Social Democratic party. Even when the party fucking hates them, they don’t seem to noteworthily break rank. Even when an MP from the SocDems went up to the podium in parliament and did a whole ass speech about how “un-democratic values exist even within those who have degrees and government jobs” and also “parallel societies now exist outside of the towerblocks in the ghetto and can now look like a lunch table in a ministry”. Just pure Fifth Column shit, which the prime minister and the socdems immediately rallied to defend when the rest of the country was like “that seems a little nazi-like”.

Sorry for the tangent, it just really bothers me that the SocDems have made no effort to denazify.

That was back in december I believe. It just takes a while for the disclosures to happen, and the timing made a lot of people’s alarm bells go off.

Tbf that one was mostly due to anti-immigrant racism, which makes practically any political program go down a lot easier. And specifically anti-german and anti-irish racism played REALLY well in the bible belt.

Supposedly the guy tried to run for a political office in Missouri and he ate shit, because missouri is not really a state where non-elites are allowed anywhere near the levers of power. Some billionaire failson ended up turfing them out of the primary IIRC.

It’s been the same way ever since 2009 when the GFC wiped out most of regular people’s money/wealth, and the richest people in the world got gifted an obscene amount of money through ZIRP. Thats why Sillicon Valley came up with so many stupid projects in the interrim from 2009 to 2022. So much of the “innovation” that the tech sector put out during ZIRP was worthless garbage because there was just too much money and not enough worthwhile investments to be made.

Most modern Nazis are big fans of Israel and zionism, on account of it being an ideology that removes jews from Europe. it’s why Orban and Netanyahu can remain good friends, as neither of them want there to be any jews in Europe / America.

Back when I was working at a large university in Denmark, our administration kept harping on and on about how we as an institution needed to be mindful of the Chinese attempts to steal our researchers. I was already pretty pro-China at that point, so I would just mock the messages to my colleagues by talking about the sneaky attempts to steal our researchers by offering them better pay, living standards, funding for their research and less political intervention in their work. Most of my colleagues didn’t understand why China was even considered a problem, but before the initiative even got off the ground, the war in Ukraine happened, and suddenly we all had to go to mandatory meetings about the evil russians and the heroic ukrainians (whom we were now arming to the teeth).

Unlike the democrats, trump actually tries to win. It’s one of the main things that people like about him.

Supposedly, quite a few of the poorest britons saw their quality of life improve under the rationing system that was in place during WWII, compared to their lives prior to the war. And after the war, they were not very eager to give up that improvement and so were willing to fight for it (while there was very little chance of Britain turning soviet in the 1940s, it was still a fear that the upper class had, particularly with the red army being stationed in Germany).

Democrats doing redbaiting always seem like loser shit. It’s the exact same type of loser shit as them quoting the Bible and trying to out-christian the christofascists in the south east. Or when ever they try to do their whole “republicans always talk about the national debt and then get in power and immediately make the problem 10 times worse”, which I saw a lot of Dems do when the Trump Tax Reform was passed in 2017.

In these types of stand-offs, the Americans usually win, as they are at any point prepared to inflict massive damage upon their own population solely to hurt their adversary. Sure, the tariffs are going to hurt China’s export-oriented economy, but it’s also going to cause massive price inflation among Americans, which is going to push even more of them into desperate poverty. However the people in Washington who make these decisions don’t have to care about an extra 10 million people being made homeless over 5 years, or 50 million going bankrupt because of the added pressure on their finances (mind the recent articles from various banks about American credit card defaults being at the highest level since 2009-2010).

I assume that the black and white picture is of Ibrahim Traore, right? I wonder if the international press giving him this kind of treatment is going to boost his popularity inside Burkina Faso, given that Sankara was also rather unpopular in the West.

Famously, Tumblr also described Finland as a colonialist country, so maybe we shouldn’t get all up in arms about the historical analysis done by the most propagandized people in the history of the world.
