Anyone see this comment on the other DT yesterday? “Unpopular opinion but I think the daily thread is better post mass exodus of former regulars” How rude! lol

I did not know that! I just read something about him using Melbourne as his base. Doing a gig in Moorabbin makes more sense now!
Going to see Arj Barker tonight. Surprised at the choice of venue for an international comedy superstar - Moorabbin Arts Centre - but looking forward to it :)
My Win 11 laptop keeps trying to force me to try ‘New Outlook’ instead of the default Mail app. I’d do it, but currently Mail is an aggregate for multiple email accounts for my small biz and I can’t risk stuffing them all up migrating the accounts
On the topic of Tolkien, this morning I was going through some old books that were still in boxes from moving house last year. Found a copy of The Adventures of Tom Bombadill which I’ve had for decades, I remember my grandmother used to read it to me when I was a kid in the 70’s. Well, it turns out that this little hardback is a first edition print from 1962 (UK release) and some are selling online for $700+, one seller had a copy up for $1100!
No plans to sell it, but I should probably take a bit more care with it :)
Which of the articles you’ve read use the word “triggered”, because none that I’ve read say that. Isn’t it also an assumption to say the families weren’t consulted? None of us know that, but it should be kept in mind that at the time the request for police not to march in uniform, the victims’ bodies had not yet been found which you’d imagine would have amplified the hurt for the families and in the wider community.
I have no skin in this game, the only reason I replied to OP was because I happened to be reading this article about it.
The parade board uninvited the police, who usually march in their uniforms, because it was deemed to be insensitive following the murder of a gay couple by one of their colleagues (with a police issue revolver no less). Individuals who happen to be police were still allowed to march just like anyone else. Now an agreement has been reached that police can be in the parade as a representative group, but in plain clothes.
As for the police that are maintaining law and order, that’s their job, as it is for any large scale public event.
Why do you think that? Australia is one of the highest recyclable markets for all sorts of things .Paper and cardboard is 87%.
So good! Takes me back to my peak clubbing days back in the UK. Thanks for the memory :)
You lost all credibility at “aborigines”. You know this is 2023, right? Unfortunately most Australians are motivated by rhetoric fed to them by Murdoch.
Bought a rotisserie chook yesterday, had the marylands with chips, veg and gravy last night, and shredded the rest up with some other veg to make tacos tonight. The chook looked tiny, but we still have enough leftover to make chicken mayo sandwiches for lunch tomorrow… All up I reckon it was $50 for three meals for two.
Leftover grand final BBQ burgers.
May I ask what you paid for it? I looked it up and Harris Scarfe has it on sale at $34.99…a massive drop from the $199 RRP. Tempted!
Genuine question - why would I need to scrub my account, also how would I back it up? TIA
That’s funny! I’m not in the top 100 thankfully but the most common crime is assault :0/
