Huh. Took a look. Nice art. Mildly interesting plot. Don’t love it, don’t hate it.
I wonder what communities people put on ani.social such that there needs to be a rule about communities being related to anime. (Honestly curious!) I agree with the rule, but I’m assuming it had to be instated specifically because someone put something non-anime-related here, as I also figure it is kind of obvious ani.social is for anime communities.
I checked some of your itch reviews and found it very funny that someone complained about the adding phrases midway when I praised it. Different strokes for different folks!
“crystal tears”
did this person read/write fanfiction in 2009 because that sure reminds me of my early fanfiction days lol
I regret not taking up this jam when it was available.
Played this! It is cute and wholesome. Don’t try opening History if you play on web browser, you just can’t play after exiting the text log because all the UI disappears and you will have to restart.
“H” doesn’t work, still stuck. Firefox browser on Mac.
Finished, what an adorable little game. Short, too. I have a lot of long games I’m juggling so it just feels good to have a game I can say I just completed.
The font you used for things outside the text box was cute! I think the pictured information bar with the numbers is the only place it doesn’t really work. Those are longer words and a lot of text to read for that quirky font, not nearly as fast to read as the Chop Wood, Study, Fish, and Menu buttons.
Your main character art is adorable. But these little guys caught my attention too. Aww!
At first I thought “okay, he’s eating only fish? Wouldn’t that get boring for him?” (I say, as someone who eats rice daily and loves it, albeit I’m no fish fan so I’m probably not aware of the diversity of his culinary options.) Just now, I realized part of his wizard hat is designed to look like a fish. Oh. Okay. That makes sense.
I liked the little concentration minigame, and just when I thought I’d mastered it and was maybe getting tired of it you added new phrases to find, that I think were added midway through the level, which was a very cool move that resparked my interest and made me not bored with it again. I only wish that when you think you have found everything, you can click to end the level: I spent a bit of time clicking off the game and typing stuff here in this lil review/feedback waiting for the timer to bleed down. Somehow I feel I could hand this game to a 7 year old to try to teach them about decision-making in the face of uncertainty, and about the very very basics of how you are supposed to concentrate to learn on stuff (different and more advanced strategies become necessary with different problems or health conditions). I don’t mean that as an insult, it’s just a cute friendly game that happens to be child-appropriate and to have at least a mild attempt at good messaging about focus and concentration.
and him shrinking his mustache… usually I don’t like facial hair on men but that added to his charm as a cute little chibi. He totally turned otome love interest in that final CG when he wins :P What a fun final spell, by the way. And when he was going to shrink an important body part it may make me a bad person to have thought, in this overall very wholesome game, that he was going to shrink his penis lol.
Nice job to the team, and you for programming!
Finally, I should probably recommend posting on !cozygames@lemmy.world
Started playing, it’s adorable. (Stat raisers are enjoyable and magic is always a good lure to make me try a game.) Music feels familiar somehow.
History > Return on browser just leaves the game totally unplayable. No more UI.
Might want to crosspost to !Bside@fedia.io too.
Saw someone promoting Lemmy Federate again, something they said in their promotion made me wonder:
What happens if a user is the first to follow a community, so their instance’s bot unsubscribes, and then the user unsubscribes?
I used to read a wider spread of genres, but I definitely seem to have consolidated towards shoujosei, and as far as I have noticed you are the only one posting that here. I’m a lot more of a “broad tastes” person outside of anime and manga.
Another series to toss on my to-read list. This would normally be a “click and read immediately!” but I find myself with more things that must be done in real life nowadays :(
I ought to mention I’m pretty lucky that one of the active !manga@ani.social posters, aka OP, shares my tastes in manga :P Thanks again!
Wonder if any of them have actual recipes you can try out in real life, I have recently started getting into cooking. Food Wars is on my to watch/read list.
Any genre and medium of games (digital or physical)
Unless this largely ends up containing VNs, I’m not too sure this belongs here, but since it doesn’t exclude VNs and I’m not a mod final decision is yours
I find Lemmy to be a fun Reddit alternative. I do love r/otomegames, no beef with them at all, but I wanted to leave Reddit behind (mostly because they forcibly resorted my feed from Best to Controversial :/ made me think a bunch of sweet, nice communities had suddenly morphed into jerk central for a bit before I figured out what Reddit did).
I’m so glad ya’ll are on wiki.gg! I’m not a Voltage girlie myself but I’m willing to try to take it on to help you out with the wiki. Wikis are great.
I did end up joining! Very quietly, I haven’t talked at all lol.
I guess I am just used to seeing very negative interactions online, especially from two opposing positions, and like to make it extra super clear I’m not trying to be an asshole to you or shit on you, given just how many times I’ve seen “I disagree” expressed alongside insults, or at least an aggressive tone even if there’s no explicit name calling. Call it the pendulum swinging too hard the other way as backlash from it, and a product of me desperately trying to ensure I’m not being misunderstood (it happens!). Thaanks for the details!
I feel like you also have a bit of an advantage because people who don’t really care about lemmy might not care about an address like lemmy.zip, but crazypeople.online gets attention, as would ani.social from anime enjoyers like myself.
Thanks for your work on ani.social :) and probably the rest of the Fediverse, I think I have seen you on my many, many Elevator7009 alts including the dead Kbin ones.
I am so pleased to see free demos being offered more and more often.
Good to see crazypeople.online still having steady growth.
Rare indie otome where I find the art attractive and not just “well you’re definitely skilled artists but uh… not really to my taste but not offensive to it either?”. I like the plot idea too, definitely keeping my eye on this one.
I admit I have been holding back some interesting questions because I do not know if they’ll get engagement, and deleting a thread because it got no engagement and reposting later in hopes people bite feels bad and somehow a bit sneaky and deceptive. I have done that, and have spaced out by weeks or months instead of after a few days so it does not come off like spam, but I still felt bad doing it somehow.
