I couldn’t find any reviews on the one I got, apparently it’s a Company that also manufactures other Latex products like Gloves and Masks. I think I’ll just go for it and hope for the best

He didn’t blame Arab racism on “woke”, he overstates the case that sometimes what is commonly known as “woke” ideologies are used for imperial ends. He gave examples of making a black African woman pronounce the verdicts on African leaders to make it appear less racist and more neutral. Many people also use feminism to basically imply that people of Iran deserve to be bombed, etc. The disagreement between him and Hasan is that Hasan believes these are cynical weaponization of feminism or identity politics or whatever you wanna call it. He also makes the point that allegations ofremoved were used to justify genocide and sees this as an extension of “believe all victims”. I think this is still a cynical deployment but his argument is not as dumb as you make it seem.

Yea it’s sad. The overwhelming popular sentiment in Morocco is against the normalization with Israel, but there’s no way for that idea to be expressed politically. We have elections now and barely anyone actually votes. In Morocco the better educated you are, the less likely you actually vote. The King has the ability to unilaterally set foreign and domestic policy, and no one in the political parties can say anything to contradict him. There were recent protests but they were crushed and people arrested without trials. There were pro-palestenian protests in Tangier last week that were also crushed. It’s gotten so bad recently, with journalists, activists and even musicians arrested. They just intimidated a Rapper for being pro-protests, was held for weeks and only recently released, pending possible charges. There are some communist pages and groups that try to mobilize but the state uses terror and arrests to intimidate anyone involved. There is a call for protests again tomorrow after 10 months of silence. Many of the protesters are still in prison.
Moroccan rapper Mehdi El Youbi temporarily released from prison

American Prestige (before they added all the annoying ads 😢)

Great work. Your intuition is correct about the preposition. عند can signify either a place or a time. The correct preposition is إلى

I set it up using docker-compose and it works flawlessly. Feel free to ask if you need help with the docker or docker-compose

They always assume you’re American and then you see their brain short circuiting when they find out you’re not. It’s as if other countries only exist as this abstract notion and only America is real. They tend to think of us as this monolithic abstraction as everyone in a Muslim country, for example, shares some inherent trait instead of a place with its own contradictions and its own complexities that cannot be reduced to their dumb generalities.
Mostly economic/health anxiety. I live in a country with no safety nets and barely make a living. I already have health issues so I’m afraid if things get worse I won’t be able to afford to get healthcare. But I tried lately to have a healthier lifestyle and it’s helping a bit with the anxiety

The past few years I’ve been struggling a lot and isolating myself. I sometimes spent weeks without even going outside and developed intense social anxiety. A little over a month ago I had a health scare where my diabetes meds weren’t working anymore and blood sugar got so high I had to go to the hospital. After that I totally changed my lifestyle and started going for long walks everyday and doing some workout at home. My mental health is much better and my blood sugar level dropped to a normal level. I feel more energy and stamina than I did in years. It did take a health crisis, but I’m proud I made such a change. I wouldn’t have thought it possible few months ago.

Damn I can’t believe people have this and don’t take advantage of it. As someone who lives in a developing country, even in a big city we don’t have the concept of a public library. I can’t even find books I want anywhere and shipping costs more than the book itself, which is huge if you factor in the difference in currency. I just read digital books now but it’s tricky especially for complex philosophical books where you want to go back and forth. Paper books make engaging with complex books easier.

I feel as if there’s a level of hopelessness online now. With all the wars and genocide going on, it’s hard to stay optimistic. Maybe that’s just me though

I don’t use Brave but did you take this screenshot or find it somewhere? I can’t find this “tag line” when searching for Brave in the Playstore.

Rewatch some comfort movies or shows. I watch Princess Bride every time I get sick

Moroccan here. Just want to add that the first years of Mohammed 6 were marked by great optimism, naming him “the king of the poor”. This optimism was later on shattered, and a new form of oppression took place. While Hassan 2 was a dictator who sent people who opposed him to a secret prison, and people just vanishing like for publicly saying the wrong things like Mehdi Ben Barka, the opposition was fierce. There was a notable coup attempt in 1972. The reign of Mohammed 6 presents a friendly face but is marked by a shift to business, the king owns many major businesses in the country, making competition nearly impossible. The king gets to extract all the riches while pretending to be this meek gentle king, and the prime ministers are changed at will and they get to be the focus of all the discontent people have. Speaking against the king is still a political taboo that you never hear publicly.

I think it all follows the same structure. There’s an imagined wholeness and peace that was beset by something alien, eliminating that alien threat will get us back to how things were. In case of Israel for example, things were great before October 7th and then something was introduced and we need to eliminate it. The imagined wholeness is always a fascistic nostalgia for a state that never was, and the alien threat element is a scapegoat for the problems they don’t wanna face. Genocide is the fascistic structure taken to its limit. We find this now in Trump’s rhetoric about how things were great before the alien emigrants and how getting rid of them will turn us into this imagined state of wholeness and belonging, it’s always scapegoating and focusing internal issues on one group in order to avoid facing them.

Thanks I’m already there, but haven’t been super active on Mastodon lately. I do enjoy the server though.

Bluesky is more similar to Twitter and has what most people were used to, like an algorithm, quote tweets, etc I found it extremely boring, but tbh it’s a more polished experience. One of my biggest annoyances with Mastodon is how threads and replies look weird. Sometimes I see the reply to a post before I see the post, especially in the “lists” view. Also not having an algorithm is both good and bad. It’s great because it’s organic, but it also means many posts get buried and it’s dependent on the time. As someone not living in the US and Europe, it’s tricky because sometimes you’ll post something when most people are asleep and no one will see it. I ultimately love Mastodon more because of the openness and the federation. But most people will find Bluesky more approachable
