At my new company my coworkers always recommend sweetgreen and I fucking hate it. 20 bucks for a salad with too much kale and can of sparkling water.

I look at the infrastructure and think about how we should build it. Sometimes I tell people that building the infrastructure will be expensive, sometimes peoples tell me I’m wrong. Fuck do I wish I was wrong more often.

I’ve been reading both Settlers and Wretched of the Earth since last week and it jokerfied me. Now that the election has passed I keep thinking about the US calling Venezuelans election illegitimate a couple months ago meanwhile my ballot has still not been counted.

There will be a recession starting sometime between the end of 2026 to beginning of 2028. Probably goes on for a couple years just like 2008. Trump will blame communists and Americans will idiotically agree and bail out the banks again.

I really thought the race would be closer. I’m surprised that 15 million voters just didn’t show up for Kamala 4 years later. That’s like losing half of the voting blocks Pew Research define as outsider and progressive left. Absolutely abysmal campaign by the Democrats, and that’s pretty cool that many folks decided not to endorse their bullshit.

Trump will have essentially had three terms. Brandon spent four years doing nothing for the left. His only accomplishments were one justice appointment and some bullshit bills full of pork projects.

Our local org brought in a guy at the annual dinner who tried shaming us all to vote for Joe Biden. Absolute fucking miss of a public speaker booking, it was so embarrassing listening to this guy when we all know even sleepy Joe could win NY by 10 points.

Biden, Lieberman and Moynihan were all more than happy to defy the party line for their own interests. Dan Moynihan was particularly shitty about abortion rights, he accused women abortion activists of being bad for the party image.

Can you get an inspection with this house or ask for repair credit? If you were really concerned about the foundation integrity I’d pull in an inspector before buying. It could be that the brick that’s cracked isn’t structural and it’s no big deal. It could be that you have vertical cracks in the foundation from settling and a repair guy could inject some shit in it for maybe 1-2 grand. If it’s horizontal cracks though you’re looking at excavation, demo and replace while shoring up the house which is that huge cost you want to avoid.

You mentioned it’s in the Southeast so if you aren’t in that freeze/thaw cycle the cracks wont grow as quickly as up North if they do start leaking. Also, when you say crawlspace do you mean most of the floor is on foundation pads with posts throughout the interior? I’m just not sure what the typical foundation on a house down there would be made of.

I closed on my house without hiring an inspector and I’m sort of paying the price. I’ve got a couple foundation issues with a small leak and this pilaster they set for a corner addition that settled.

-What region of the US are we talking and how old is the house?

-Is this a full basement?

-Is the brick just a veneer or is the entire foundation structurally brick? Most foundations are poured concrete, CMU block, or stone for really old homes.

Most commercial CMU walls have a control joint, they stop laying the running bond (staggered pattern) and leave a vertical joint that allows expansion and settling to occur without head joints (mortar joints on the sides of the brick) cracking, residential foundation walls wouldn’t have that detail so it’s much more common for a crack to appear on houses. If the bed joints (joints on top and bottom of brick) were cracking you have a bigger issue because that could indicate the foundation wall is buckling from the lateral/hydrostatic pressure.

The swing states all have a lot of fuckery at the local level and it will take a couple days before we know who is the true winner. SCOTUS will try to intervene but the lower courts will get ahead of them to ensure the states wrap up the counting. Harris probably wins, but the chuds will be frothing at the mouth. I’m setting the over/under for how many get shot dead by the authorities at 3.5.

Isn’t that more like 20 years ago at this point? 2004 Kerry lost to Bush but the Democrats started taking back the house and Senate. Then it culminates in '08 with Obama’s near blowout and folks started that, “the GOP is no more” celebration. By 2014 the GOP was back and trying to repeal the ACA every week.

In the month of October, Trump has drilled down on his campaign message to round up and kill liberals while Kamala has been forgiving Israel for the most heinous crimes to occur with in my lifetime. Trump gained 5 points in polling amongst suburban white women in that time. Truly scared of the bloodlust amongst most Americans.

I love your posts because they remind me of the Minnesota Timberwolves and my own Siberian Husky. They also provide me motivation to continue to make this wretched place just a little bit better. NY needs to reintroduce Wolves like MN and CO have done.

A couple years ago Hexbears lambasted me for not being angry about the railroad strike. I said from my experience in my union we were barely an institution let alone a left wing institution.
