China’s recent development doesn’t really hinge on Marxist-Leninist models. It went heavy into state capitalism to produce a massive improvement in the economy. I feel like China’s main innovation was to create an investment model that was company agnostic; private companies competed to operate state owned factories rather than the state owning the companies. Corporate governance is more “third way” with loose control over semi-private entities.

I look at it like they want a good education, but they also want something that can’t be provided in the USA. It may be a new experience, learning different languages, or something else.

Even then, Iran has exempted Iraq from paying the tolls initially.

Iran’s attacks have been fairly limited to try not to significantly attack non-American assets in the region as a way to keep the war from drawing in more belligerents. Maintaining the tolls has been a way for Iran to get international pressure to get the USA to stop attacking. However, once you remove the American threat, the tolls are going to be an intolerable economic pain point to the other Persian Gulf countries.

I don’t see it getting a Chip 'n Dale: Rescue Rangers treatment because that movie was made to be a very Hollywood movie that brought in major comedic talent. In contrast, Dieselpunk hasn’t been big years and I don’t think that Disney would risk the funding needed to make that movie.
