Viele denken sich halt “warum sollten Flüchtlinge hier Leistungen erhalten, die mir nicht zustehen?”, was natürlich einerseits kurz gedacht ist und zweitens auch die falsche Frage stellt. Warum werden hier immer mehr Leistungen gestrichen, trotz Rekordeinnahmen? Ich kann ja hier schon froh sein, dass das Freibad noch existiert, dass Hallenbad in der Stadt wurde vor Jahren geschlossen. Die Bushaltestellen haben größtenteils 0 Wetterschutz, da steht einfach ein Schild und manchmal eine Bank. Und es ist nicht so, dass die Gemeinde (ca. 25000 Einwohner) arm wäre. Aber Bürger und Flüchtlinge werden einfach gegeneinander ausgespielt.

Beispiel: der Gemeindesaal der Sporthalle des Nachbardorfes war bestimmt ein Jahr durch Flüchtlinge belegt und daher nicht nutzbar. Den Verpflichtungen zur Bereitstellung von Unterkunft kam man einfach nicht nach. Aber man sollte nicht glauben, dass die Verantwortlichen irgendwo Abstriche gemacht hätten, wenn es um die Gemeindeimmobilien gegangen wäre. Umso schlimmer, dass der Bürgersaal eigentlich als Unterkunft gar nicht geeignet war. Mir taten sie dort untergebrachten schon ziemlich leid. Vorfälle gab es dort allerdings nie.

This is something that never made sense to me. The US is already a net exporter for oil (dunno if refined or whatever) but the economy is not limited by fossil fuel availability.

Other nations are trying to move away from oil, especial China which was a huge market for ICE cars to until recently.

Also, you’d be insane to rely on the US for essential goods for the next 4 years and possibly beyond. So you have a commodity that is seeing less international use in its prime market, a supply larger than demand, and yet ask other nations to lower the price which in turn makes your product less desirable or profitable (https://www.reuters.com/business/energy/opec-yet-react-trump-call-lower-oil-prices-2025-01-24/) while proving you’re a terrible partner.

You can use systemd with the classic logging tools by installing and enabling their respective service if you prefer. This will forward all messages to them. You even get a more comprehensive log than before systemd as the latter will even forward the messages that were sent before the logging service was started.

Edit: similarly for cron, you can still use the classic tools. I see their appeal in ease of configuration. Though in my opinion, systemd timers are more powerful and better integrated (don’t ask me why, I made that assessment years ago) so I accept that increased complexity.

Auch wenn die Studie und der Artikel Recht haben, finde ich, dass nicht nur die statistisch kürzere Lebenserwartung erwähnt werden sollte, sondern auch die massive Linderung der Lebensqualität. Echte Suchtis können natürlich beides wegwischen (“wer will schon so alt werden” und “uns wird’s dann, wenn es mich betrifft, sowieso schlecht gehen”). Klar weil gesellschaftliche Spannungen machen erst mit COPD richtig Spaß aber hey.

Bei mir in der Gegend ist manchmal so ein Kerl, den höre ich fast immer Husten, und wenn ich ihn sehe, raucht er. Ob es davon kommt, keine Ahnung. Es wird davon aber bestimmt nicht besser. Ich würde bei seinem Husten schon nach einer Woche verrückt.
