Rich people and people in government already get away with this stuff. Our president is a felon. If people in power aren’t bound by the law then citizens will act. Only holding the people who act accountable is ensuring that the people in power never have consequences.

I’m a round about way it does hurt them though, I would assume. Which would make sense on why they don’t want it. Just trying to play it out in my head I’d think, ok company X pays more for copper, so they need to charge more. Which means less will probably be purchased, so they in turn order less copper from Mexico due to reduced demand from price sensitivity. So I think it will hurt them eventually.

In my experience being both and employee and employer it’s not usually the best move to stay. You were leaving for a reason. If the reason was not money, then all it’s done is convince you to put up with it for longer. If it was money, it’s just a matter of time till someone offers more, and the company knows that. They will build redundancy and remove you so you don’t disrupt business by surprising them with an exit.
If you’re not making enough there it’s because the company doesn’t want to pay you more or can’t. If a company is paying you more than they would like, they’re not just going to accept that, action will be taken to fill that spot at the desired price point.
Is all this right and moral, of course not. But capitalism never is, especially these days.
This is the exact thing the OP is talking about. Telling people they need to go out and fight, putting their lives on the line when you don’t know their situation.
Self defense is not an ablest concept, it’s one of the natural response to being threatened, and it’s not limited to getting and using weapons. Ever heard of fight or flight? Fighting in a threatening situation is self defense and implying disabled people are helpless and can’t fight is insulting.
I don’t wanna beat the analogy into the ground so I’ll let it go. But the point is, ones of them was going to be president. You will HAVE to deal with one of them. Refusing to vote is making the statement that you’re ok with the worst outcome, because of you weren’t ok with it you would have taken action to prevent that worst outcome. This is the general “you”, not you specifically obviously, since you voted.
I feel like a lot of people thought “I don’t like either, so I won’t vote” ignoring that they will be impacted either way, so it’s not a matter of who you like, it’s a matter of effecting the outcome to get the best result possible. Even if that isn’t perfect for you.
