  • I’m of the opinion personally that theres nothing wrong with the people who fight and win the revolution from enjoying the luxuries they seize a bit. I mean what are you going to do with 40,000 wine bottles? Stand on the street and be like, “Hey, anybody want some wine? Get your wine here! I promise I’m not trying to poison you! I just have a bunch of random wines I’m giving away!”

It would be like if American had a revolution. Most of these huge mcmansions aren’t going to work as public housing. So you can let them sit empty, demolish perfectly functional housing, or let revolutionary war heros live in them. I forget the term but theres this term for like communists that obsess over being poor. Like everyone has to live in barracks. It’s the thing that China rejected outright. There is nothing inherently wrong with abundance or luxury. The thing wrong with it is that in capitalism is is gained by exploiting others and is at the expense of their basic needs. But if the luxury already exists theres no reason people can’t enjoy it. And if you have the spare resources to both have luxurious things and to raise 800 million people out of poverty like China did then your allowed to have some nice things too.

  • Yeah I was kind of lumping that all into the economic conditions umbrella. The stuff messing with the USSR was a laundry list of totally insane threats. Since its founding it was ostracized by the world. Had the revolution. Then it got invaded by the Nazis. Then it had to rebuild half of europe. Try to get a huge population of reactionaries who had just invaded it under control. Half the countries on its borders (Iran, China, India/Pakistan) were in states of upheaval too. The fact they did so much is a complete miracle of state planning.

  • Everyone else has already kind of eaten you up so I just want to add maybe examine your kneejerk reaction to this post? Seeing something positive said about the nation to put the first man in space and defeat the nazis among other things and then to immediately feel the need to find something bad to say about them is not a sign of someone with an open mind free of propaganda. But we were all there at one point its totally possible to break out of that. Not saying you have to love the USSR but getting to a point where you can discuss it objectively without having some need to bring up random failures in an unrelated conversation is healthy. You don’t do that about the USA right? If I said Union Station in DC was pretty you wouldn’t feel the need to bring up Japanese Internment, or Slavery for example right? Might be time for some introspection.

  • Next few decades? I’m more worried about the next 10 years by itself. Imo we’re looking at global economic collapse probably starting early 2027 or so. Then world war 3 probably by 2030. You could argue we’re already in it. I just mean the big one (China vs USA). It may be delayed a bit due to the US just having horrible supply chains and needing time to ramp up production on bombs/missiles. I think they’ll invade Cuba before Trumps term ends and use a bunch more too.

I’m expecting the Armenians to have some sort of civil conflict soon and the Ukraine and Iranian front to merge together for the most part. Israel will just continue to get more belligerent and expansionist. I really don’t see how we could possibly avoid at the least a huge regional conflict at this point and the US seems hell bent on starting WW3 too.

The climate is going to suck, but people will adapt to it. China for sure. They’re already working on all the tech they’d need to feed their entire country with hydroponics. Thorium for power will be the game changer. Generally the way of life most people in the west live now is just not going to last. It’s unsustianable. They’ll get a wake up call soon and will react by going full fash like the reactionaries they are. Then the rest of the world will have to reign them in. It’ll be a mess and it’ll happen faster than anyone would expect.

  • In all seriousness though? Eat now. Put on a few pounds if your skinny. Nothing crazy but don’t be too thin because a few pounds can save your life if food is hard to come by. And buy a huge bag of rice and dried beans and just stick it in your pantry. Couple tubs of peanut butter. Those are all cheap, calorie dense, and give you carbs, fats, and protein. It can get you through a tough few months. Plus they last forever anyway so you have time to eat them even if you don’t need them in an emergency.

20lbs bag of dried white rice 10lbs bag of dried pinto beans 2 40oz containers of peanut butter. That’s roughly 30,000 calories for like 30-40$. If food prices get out of control using that to supplement what you have by just adding fresh produce to it and stuff is a great way to not go hungry.

If you want meat and have freezer space you can buy bags of chicken quarters now and clean/freeze them individually for later. They’re the cheapest meat you can get usually. Usually comes in a massive 10lbs bag.

Being poor teaches you how to make a dollar stretch.
