It’s not very interesting, just the Windows XP shutdown and startup sounds.
Your average science guy, Linux nerd, and Minecraft player. Left Reddit for this place and haven’t looked back. :)

It does bug me, but hey that’s what the block feature is for.
GrapheneOS with a Pixel 6 Pro. It works perfectly for me. Most Google apps don’t work, but that’s only because I’ve chosen not to install their spyware “services”.
Sounds like a pretty good way to go to be honest. It’ll all be over in seconds instead of the minutes to hours of lethal injection.
I’m not surprised, though I am concerned at just how quickly it happened. Trump’s a lot more prepared this time around.
That’s fair, it’s definitely a possibility. However in my opinion it’s far too unlikely to justify the self-censorship.
A high profile murder is not comparable to some random guy insulting a politician on social media.
This is needless fearmongering. Follow basic privacy practices and it’ll take far more than a “mass surveillance” level of effort to track down your real identity from a social media profile. Also the amount of dislike for Trump and/or Musk is huge, so they’d have to go after like half the population.
And with that said, Trump and Musk are pieces of shit and deserve to die.
My 1TB and 12TB drives are 1000204886016 and 12000138625024 bytes respectively. Looks like between the two I got a whole 343 MB for free!
There’s no way that’s real, it’s an interesting concept though. Being trapped in your body and unable to interact with the outside world for decades would be horrifying.
That’s what join-lemmy.org does, is it not?
Do you really want a job at a company that uses AI to review their applicants?
The link the post is pointing to is was broken.
It probably has to do with how many people here use Linux, and Steam’s commitment to supporting Linux gaming. I myself have a fairly high opinion of them; they’re not perfect, but they’re better than the other big companies and I can actually play their games.
Only if you’ve got an OLED display, for LCDs you’re using roughly the same energy as long as your display’s backlight is on.
if you drop it from high enough
Just go high enough that drag is negligible. :)
Obviously it has no relation to the actual time period, but the number 2025 having those properties is mathematically interesting.
To be fair that’s pretty cool, definitely not something to be posting on LinkedIn though.
The total geothermal power produced within the Earth is around 47 TW, and humans currently average around 21 TW usage, which is actually pretty close. However the Earth is absolutely huge and has billions of years of thermal energy stored in it. I imagine if we massively scaled up geothermal generation we’d slowly deplete the energy near the surface and would have to go deeper, but that would probably be on a timescale of thousands of years.
