1. The official Pixelfed app just has a nicer looking UI
2. There’s not really a competing app for people leaving Insta like there is Bluesky vs Mastodon
3. Pixelfed’s content is mostly visual so it’s easily digestible to casual users and you don’t have to scroll past dry Fedi arguments
4. Better discover features so users don’t have to do a bunch of legwork to find who to follow

Just my guesses though, but like any social media it really depends on if big creators will switch and if users stick with it over time

Ah the Uncle Max saga. I liked the attempt to flesh out the family tree and Calvin’s parents having another adult to converse with, but as far as characterization goes Max felt pretty flat. I can see why Watterson didn’t bring him back

As an aside, Tintin is probably my favorite IP in my life, and I will always love everything Tintin. But I don’t think I would buy a Tintin magic set at all, and in fact it would kind of make me feel weird. Tintin, a journalist set in the 20s/30s, grounded fully in reality and current events, is the exact opposite of magic and spellcasting. They make as much sense as peanut butter and tomato sauce together.

This is how I felt about Jurassic Park. My favorite movie of all time but I can’t seriously play a card with Sam Neil or Ian Goldbloom on it.
