ODGreen@slrpnk.netto Buy it for Life@slrpnk.net•Buy it for life | This versatile Japanese chef’s knife has lasted longer than some of my relationshipsEnglish2·10 days agoI have a carbon steel knife a buddy of mine made, has lasted 10+ years. Holds a decent edge, so I can even shave my arm hair with it when it’s freshly sharpened.
Also have some cheap ass Kiwi brand paring knives made from kind of extremely soft stainless steel. Very easy to sharpen. They get used as steak knives, for cutting cheese, apples, etc.

Then rinse and leave them out to dry. Works well when keycaps get gross from finger grime too.
Does oatmeal give you any trouble?
I have a feeling it could be some of the additives in oat milk that are the culprit.
Worth a try. I miss pizza.
I’ll keep an eye out for that. I am trying to put on weight so I do end up eating a lot of fat. Maybe I switch them out for more carbs.
ODGreen@slrpnk.netto Canada@lemmy.ca•Supersized American cars shouldn’t be a barrier to Canadians getting some great European options - Why are we banning small cars from being sold in Canada?English3·2 months agoYup. The Ford F-series trucks are the best selling car in Canada. Gotta brave those dangerous wide suburban roads to get to the rugged Walmart and haul toilet paper.
Not gonna mention the Secret Protocol in the Molotov-Ribbentrop pact that enabled the partition of Poland and the Baltics?
Or that Stalin actually fell for it all, trusted Hitler, disregarded all evidence of Nazi troop buildup until the day of Operation Barbarossa? Then Stalin spent weeks disappeared from public view.
Credit to the Soviets for defeating the Nazis. WW2 would have been lost without them. But they also acted as imperialists in reattaching Tsarist colonies to Russia, dividing Poland and the Baltics with Hitler, invading Finland, not to mention all the puppet states created postwar.
And the Soviets allied with Nazi Germany and carved up Poland with their new buddies.

ODGreen@slrpnk.netto Solarpunk technology@slrpnk.net•How to Dress and Undress your Home | To make buildings more energy-efficient, consider curtains, awnings, wall hangings, and other textile insulation technologies from a time before air conditioningEnglish7·3 months agoFun fact, adding textiles to walls for insulation is where we get the term “furring” from.
I wish awnings were more common. Such a simple way to block out midday or afternoon sun in the hot summer.
They could make a stick that a soldier could put a spherical grenade on to help give extra range. Like an atlatl or one of those tennis ball launchers for dogs.

Gildan makes a lot of their shirts in pretty bad sweatshops.
But if you’re looking for t-shirts made somewhere more “ethical”, prepare to literally pay 10x the price.
For my workout or dirty work shirts I go to thrift stores. There’ll be lots of polyester/cotton blend shirts but probably still gonna be more than $3.
