I don’t say this to downplay your experience, but as a more positive way to look at it. Maybe you couldn’t have come to this realization without having gone through this. Maybe you didn’t waste your time, and you didn’t miss out on anything, because you were doing what seemed right at the time and now you’ve learned from it. You wouldn’t have this new clarity without having gone through the darkness.

I tried it for a year but I don’t watch very much of the type of content on there so I ended up canceling it. It’s a decent app. Definitely missing a lot of the QOL of something as long in development as YouTube, but it wasn’t bad.
I don’t think their goal is to be a YouTube alternative for what its worth. They seem to cater it towards very specific types of videos (mostly educational and news content creators).

I, as of recently, live in a place where I actually see those things driving around (and a lot of other trucks). They look like children’s toys compared to the absolute monster fords and some other trucks (not to mention they really do age like milk from what I’ve seen). Some of these behemoths can’t even fit in a single parking spot, it’s kind of insane. One of those would be more deserving of this title I think (I don’t know cars so I can’t say any specific models I’m afraid)
This corroborates my suspicions about living with a smartphone. I’m not someone who has tried to avoid them, but I still think there should be options for people who don’t like them. I’ve seen more and more things that seem to be smartphone only, and I’ve been wondering if they do anything for people without one, or if they’re just shit out of luck.

I really like Inkarnate. Very reasonable yearly subscription and a great tool. Obvious caveat that if you want something completely custom built, rather than using their textures and artwork, something else will probably work better. For my needs it works though.
I think the paid aspect of them sucked but I did enjoy the twitch-emote style reaction vibe some of them had. Having something like that be a non-paid feature would be fun to see I think.
