The US builds nothing but more luxury homes, casinos and sports stadiums… and whatever fast food trend is growing.
I know it’s not quite that simple, but it sure feels like it sometimes.

4·2 days agoYour inside line needs to go around and go to all the prohibited sites when they find users with unlocked computers.
Bonus points if they can plant a task that routinely checks in with a background process to said sites. Shouldn’t need any kind of admin rights to run a web browser, and they have to have at least one whitelisted even if they lock down computers severely.
It’s criminal to be poor, obviously.
Just like it’s criminal to be brown or black.

Everybody overhired coders in 2020-2021, and everybody has been shedding them since… along with tons of other roles.
Sure, they are always hiring and there’s always exceptions. If the job is 60k and you have 3000 applicants and 300 of them have over 3 years of experience… how can a 0 YOE possibly compete?
My brother in law got fucked by this. Smart kid and beloved by his boss, company folded and now works at a fucking dominos.

Please, don’t pay attention to DC, American Samoa, the Commonwealth of the Northern Mariana Islands, Guam, Puerto Rico, and the U.S. Virgin Islands… taxation without representation because that might screw up who is in power and makes the decisions.

System Administratorare some non-management roles i’ve seen go to UK + EU based offices, while the US gets downsized to on site tech support only.
Of course you get the typical L1 india call center support too.
I’ve seen this a lot in pharma. They really hate hiring IT workers for more than facilities drone prices in the US.

My wife has already knocked mine off a couch and caused the case to un-clip in one spot, but it could have very easily been much worse.
I get wanting a case on the thing lol
I keep seeing great middle class jobs move to places like France, Germany or UK, because the US wages for the same job are 30-50% higher.
Why can the QOL in such places be considered so high, while wages are so low?

This guy’s immigration status is perplexing to me.
He came on a weeklong visa in 2023 but managed to get employment authorization (this usually takes a year+ based on personal experience post-pandemic.)

It’s been a sporadic issue across multiple steamOS versions for a long, long time. At one point they said they fixed it, but I have the bug on the current version.
I’m sure if you go through the process of factory resetting the device or re-loading the OS and blowing away your settings it can be fixed, but I look at that as way too much work.
