I am now married to a Vietnamese woman for a bit over ten years and we have a kid, but i can only speak from my personal experience - as always, people are individuals and regional experiences may be utterly different.

As far as i can say: As long as you respect the culture, try to blend in and be friendly you will never find a more welcoming people, multi racial kids (we are talking European / Vietnamese here, ok?) are absolutely no problem. But i have to say: In Vietnam you also find the (i am speaking in general terms here) typical asian dislike for darker skin. You are absolutely fine as long as your skin tone matches roughly the one of the local population or is lighter. As a darker skinned person your experience may be completely different.

I don’t know about our politician, but the population surely is taking him seriously… i am living near an american base in germany and i can assure anyone: Americans are really not popular with the local population right now, and at the moment its a really, really bad idea to enter some establishments in uniform.

Vietnam really is nice (i lived there for a while), but one has to keep in mind: The living standard (away from the big cities) is still not compareable to western standards and - a thing that i find really funny in a way - i would never have thought that a communist country may be THAT anarcho capitalist.

But overall: I really love that country.

Realistisch gesehen wäre das eigentlich genau der Trigger den die Amis gerne haben würden um zu sagen “Seht ihr? Die stellen sich der FREIHEIT™ der Grönländer entgegen - lasst uns den Einheimischen HELFEN™”.

Und seien wir mal ehrlich: Die EU wird nicht wegen Grönland in den Krieg ziehen - nicht mit unserer kompletten digitalen Infrastruktur in den Händen der USA und erst Recht nicht mit unserer aktuellen militärischen Abhängigkeit. Das einzige was die “Übernahme” Grönlands (hoffentlich, hoffentlich, hoffentlich) auslösen würde wäre eine mittelfristige Abnabelung der (meisten) EU Länder vom Imperium… andererseits hätte das bereits seit Bush Jr. passieren sollen (ich erinnere nur mal an den "American Service-Members Protection Act mit dem die Amis schon 2002 deutlich gemacht haben wie sehr sie auf ihre europäischen Verbündeten scheißen)

Es ist eine extrem frustrierende Situation und ehrlich gesagt: Ich fühle mich langsam wie der Bahnhofspenner mit dem Schild “DAS ENDE IST NAH!!!” … ich stand mit unzähligen anderen schon bei der Irak Invasion auf der Straße und habe demonstriert, es wurde immer und immer wieder über die letzten > 25 gottverdammte Jahre darauf hingewiesen in welcher Abhängigkeit wir uns befinden, und was hat es bewirkt? Absolut nichts. NIX. NULL. Die Situation ist eher noch deutlich schlimmer als zu Beginn dieses Jahrtausends.

Sorry wegen dem halben Rant… aber irgendwie bin ich derzeit am Überlegen meinen betrieblichen Kaffee auf Pharisäer umzustellen um den ganzen Mist irgendwie auszuhalten.
