You can remove the word “coup” and just say “overthrow of the government” – that’s really what I’m asking you. Do you think that’s happening now? If not, what would signal to you that it is happening?

I didn’t downvote because you’re stating your opinion. Question for you: What would have to happen for you to change your mind from “they’re trying to reduce costs” to “oh shit, this really is a coup”?

To be fair you’d probably fit right into a large organization’s IT department.

They are smart. They are taking the extra 30 days to cut the U.S. out of everything they can. They even said this was the reason they didn’t kick off all of their tariffs for 90 days - to let Canadian companies find alternatives.

Damage to the U.S. has already been done.

I’ve been off Reddit for a while but I’d be lying if I didn’t just go look at /r/conservative to see.
“I pray Trump knows what he is doing, because if this doesn’t work and just results in higher prices and nothing the average person can identify as a positive, then people will sour on Trump.”
“Im really worried this is going to bite us hard causing prices to skyrocket.”
“I’m in the construction industry and would be lying if I said I wasn’t a little nervous for this rollercoaster.” In general, some longer comments are basically saying tariffs will work to bring home manufacturing. The problem with this is we would need manufacturing of most of these things IN PLACE NOW to be ready to do that. We’re not since it’s a surprise to both U.S. citizens and Canada.
Many other posts are being deleted – most I’ve ever seen, but again it’s been a while since I’ve looked at Reddit.

It’s proof that it’s not about the economy which would mean the door is always open to negotiate a better deal. It’s not about drugs since Canada could be calling to say, “We’ve made X changes to reduce drug trade.”

So that begs the question: what is this all about?

I agree there is a large subset of MAGA that are lost causes, however, I’ve seen a couple people around me change their minds on Trump: One was over the H1B (fear of job loss) and the other was over these recent tariffs (fear of paying more). Had to cause issues that could have direct impacts to them personally to change their minds, but there you have it.

What’s wrong with Target? Only thing I heard was backlash from putting out certain kinds of lgbtq+ designs and then reacting by pulling those back (and getting backlash again for that).

I felt bad about it so I stopped using YouTube directly/with ads because of being part of Google and too closely tied to politics/current admin. Same with Amazon, Apple, Meta, and X. My wallet is the last voice I have at this point.

They could just be scared to release more details. Shoot I would be too. How would you do it if you had something big that you wanted to share with the world but were afraid of being put on some list or something worse? My guess would be VPN+Dark Web / Wikileaks (is there a dark web version?). Not sure if anything is full proof. I’m probably just be too weak and STFU unfortunately.
