Public transport should be fine. They will run the holiday service, which might be a bit less than regular service. But especially for bigger cities you should be fine. Expect it to be crowded though.

Sounds pretty similar to me and my grandparents, especially the part about not being vulnerable with each other. Mostly it’s surface-level talks. For example, my grandpa is into plants and gardening, so we might talk about the garden or his most recent visit to the garden center or something.
And I’m pretty sure behavior like this is passed down through generations.
I believe a major factor in this was a ruling by the Hoge Raad that a “free” phone with a contract is unlawful and is actually a loan. Carriers now have to list the price for the phone and for the service separately, so it’s a lot more clear what the costs of the phone are.
Also, a “free” phone is now registered as a loan with monthly recurring costs, which impacts for example the maximum mortgage you can get on a home.

This is definitely part of it. The company I work for sells a service to companies, that their employees need to use. We built a web app, it works perfectly fine. However, people ask for ‘an app’ because they want to install it from their phone’s app store instead of opening the website once through a link in their email and creating a bookmark.
So we added a PWA manifest and clear instructions on how to ‘install’ our web app (it’s literally the same thing otherwise, no added functionality). Yet the users still complain that they want an app…

For me it often covers important elements of the site that way. Especially these annoying “use our app” overlays, and then the “continue using website” button is hidden behind the address bar with jo way to scroll it into view. So no way to use the website :(

In the Netherlands, they solved this by adding a randomly generated transaction reference to the payment. This will appear on your bank / credit card statement. To view details for the transaction (time and location of entry/exit), you have to enter the paid amount and reference.
However, this will only give you info for a single transaction. If you want to see an overview of all your transactions, you need to create an account in their app. After linking your card to your account, again using the reference and amount for a transaction, you can view your travel history.
Ik was op reddit alleen een lurker. Ben daar weggegaan sinds het hele API gedoe en nooit meer omgekeken. Ik kom er alleen nog als ik Google gebruik om oplossingen te vinden voor dingen als Home Assistant.
Op Lemmy is wat minder te beleven, maar dat is ook wel prima. Dan leg ik m’n telefoon weg en ga ik iets anders doen. Ik vind het helemaal niet erg om niet oneindig door te kunnen scrollen.
