Technology@lemmy.world•Americans’ junk-filled garages are hurting EV adoption, study saysEnglish
191·4 months agoAs opposed to what your comment implies, the drivetrain (EV or ICE) has nothing to do with cars spying on you. You should not blame the technology itself because shady car companies spying on your internet connected car. Most of them are well known ICE car brands that do the spying (GM, Volkswagen for instance)
Yes, most new ICE cars are Internet connected now, not just EVs.
Blame those greedy corporations, not the technology.

You Should Know@lemmy.world•YSK: You can install an extension on Firefox (android) that allows you to play YouTube videos with your screen locked: (perfect for listening to obscure music)English
5·10 months agoTo top up your comment, you can get the permissions required for each extension in Firefox for Android. Extension Manager --> click the extension --> Permissions
In the case of this specific extension, it requires access to the data of only 3 domains :
Many other extensions are far worst in regards to permissions that this one.
It is a good habit to check what are the permissions required before using any extension or phone apps for that matter.

Fuck Cars@lemmy.world•Volkswagen has been collecting geolocation data from their smart cars, which were accidentally made publicEnglish
26·1 year agoLet’s be real, any VW cars with a head unit with maps capabilities and a SIM card are certainly tracked down. Why would it be limited to electric drivetrain cars only? There’s no GPS in the motors… It’s in the head unit

Pop! OS is my daily driver and I’m very happy with it. That being said, Bazzite would be a better “gaming” distro to put in the guide.
