We are actually very lucky (for now). Australia produces much more food than it consumes. About 70% of agricultural product is exported. We have (for now) food security. 25% is bad enough but to make out that most of what we consume is made o’s is propaganda.

Have you seen this interview of Grace Tame by Antony Lowenstein? It is a month old or so and before the ‘difficult’ comment. It is on AI, Power, and the Normalisation of Child Sexual Abuse https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=c8cKJ3zeJPw.
I found her admirable. We need more voices like hers.

You may be right but the article does mention consumer law:
The ACCC also said it welcomed changes from the government to the maximum penalties for consumer law breaches by fuel companies from $50 million to $100 million and said it would seek the maximum penalties in any cases it pursued.
The ACC webpage says it can take action “where businesses mislead consumers about pricing. This includes on the reasons for a price increase.”

Thanks for that info. Perhaps you could do a post to let more people know about these options.

Had a similar action happened at a Jewish event, the assailant would have been immediately arrested. Our authorities give lip-service to community cohesion but on the ground some communities ‘are more equal than others’. We also need to call out how AI is being used to stir up social conflict wherever we see it.

You’re right. Thank you for that perspective.
Perhaps a lawful decapitation would be one like the bombing of Hitler’s bunker, where the head of the state is leading annexation and occupation with no reason other than the desire to expand, and approving war crimes. Some further comment:

War, in my view, is an abysmal evil.

Thank you for posting. Important citizen science project. Please also cross-post to Aussie Enviro.

No matter what euphemism is given to our action in the Gulf, we are taking sides. We’re taking the side of those who attacked and decapitated a sovereign nation unlawfully. Our actions will result in deaths, directly or indirectly, of many unarmed civilians because we are freeing up US/Israel aircraft to keep carpet bombing Iran. Same as sending F35 parts to Israel to be used on civilian Palestinians.
We are now (unofficially) taking part in the Middle East War which some are already calling the start of WW3. Australian government, you are making this nation a future target without our consent.

Or as Iran knows the war brought by the Epstein Coalition.

We have US operations and facilities in the Northern Territory. If Iranian intelligence showed that these were being used to aid the American assault on Iran in any way, they’d have every right to destroy them. We could be a legitimate target. If during the early days of this despicable war we’re already thinking of aiding Arab gulf states ruled by dictator families put there by the US, we are already active in this conflict, not just there for defensive purposes (according to the lame explanation we are being given by our government).
I believe many Australians would not support a draft but others would, PLUS we would be blasted by war propaganda (which we already are). I’d like to see all those older men who are so pro-war go and enlist and leave our young people alone.

In case anyone is interested or has questions about petitions.
Here’s page for our govt petition procedures: https://www.aph.gov.au/Parliamentary_Business/Petitions
Here’s Change.org: https://www.change.org/petition-guides/create-a-petition

This may not be the case to petitions presented to the Senate but I could be wrong.

This is just a guess. Perhaps they chose change.org because they are likely to get more signatories than on a govt petition site.

Thank you for that. Please share the petition. Let’s get this debated in parliament.

Could you cross-post this to Aussie Enviro please? We’ve been discussing night sky issues.
Could you cross post this great contribution with Aussie Enviro please?
Btw, this website might come in handy at some point: https://www.aussiebee.com.au/

Theres so many options to fix the current, artificially created crisis.> I agree with you.
As to your question re housing and the effect of oil price rising, I think you answered it when you mentioned supply chains. Imo, construction, like all business, will be affected by a rise in petrol costs e.g. obtaining materials, tools, machinery from overseas, local travel and freight costs. All will be passed on to buyers so I imagine that it will become even more expensive to buy a new home unless govt helps out. In addition, the cost of kitting out a home will be more expensive as all appliances, imported furniture and miscellaneous items will also rise in price. These old men and their wars and power mongering are hurting young people in so many ways. No wonder so many don’t want to have children.
Echidnas are difficult to breed in captivity at the best of times because of their mating habits (I’ve put up a post about this before). Being an albino makes this little echidna very vulnerable in the wild because he has no camouflage so I imagine he will remain in captivity at the Symbio Wildlife Park in Sydney (the young woman who brought the echidna to the vet had the name on her cap). Because he is a young echidna I guess they will try and see if he mates in general. He is healthy and he should have a chance to exercise his natural instincts.
