RPGMemes @ttrpg.network•just because its true doesnt mean you have to say it
3·15 days agothere’s actually great resources for getting started online. There’s a site called start playing games dedicated to matching new people to a DM. Note that services like that cost money. There’s also the virtual tabletop roll20 which has a group finder for you to find a game. It will have a mix of free and paid games. Alternatively, you can crowdsource that such as on r/lfg on reddit (unfortunately the LFGs here on lemmy don’t seem to be active enough to find games), or through various discord servers, including the official D&D discord. Another that has reasonably active LFG type sections to try is the Fantasy grounds (another VTT) discord.
For in person play, you can also look in to local gaming stores that might run adventurer’s league, which is the sort of ‘official’ play wizards of the coast sanctions at local stores and at conventions.

8·15 days agoI haven’t heard terribly many people talk about draw steel, honestly. I’d be interested to hear what you think about it after trying it out.

6·16 days agoyep, you are correct; i always accidentally lump it in together because of how related/similar they are, my bad.

5·22 days agoThis is extremely messy, but a quick job to just change the font style really fast. Lots of things dont quite line up, but its a start if this helps. I’ll go through later and fix it up, and add it to the store links.

4·22 days agoi suppose i could make a version with a ‘normal’ font. Technically should only take a few seconds as i modify the styling, but its likely to mess up all the orientation/formatting of the document. I’ll look into that later, thanks for the feedback!

3·22 days agoi used aseprite to make all the art; I also tended to limit my color palette to era-appropriate colors, though i moved between different color palette limitations on some parts

4·22 days ago@eerongal. (How did you tag people in here?)
Yeah, you can tag people, you have to use @username@instance and it should popup a context window on the regular UI, i believe. Like this - @roflo1@ttrpg.network - it will then normalize it into a link format that looks like:

rpg@ttrpg.network•Good E-Reader or Tablet for Reading RPG PDFs?
1·27 days agonote that this is the air 3; its a bit more expensive than the go, which is the ~250ish model i mentioned above. The go is also only 7 inches instead of…i think 12 on this? They use the same sort of color eink on all their tablets, though

2·27 days agoHow expensive is “too expensive”? I have a boox note 3 and read TTRPGs all the time on it. Their color eink screens are really good. You can get the go series for 200~250-ish
https://shop.boox.com/products/go7
I can post a picture later today (busy atm) of my boox with a color PDF if you want to see how it looks

Lemmy@lemmy.ml•Looking for lemmy hosting service recommendationsEnglish
1·1 month agoYeah, i figured it was probably under priced with our current host, but im not looking to balloon costs 4-5x or something when switching to a new host, hopefully. I’d like fully managed if possible, but yeah, another thought was including people who could look at things in my stead, though I don’t really have a list of people i’m aware of who i could recruit.

4·1 month agoHopefully it shouldn’t be a big deal. I just need to find a new hosting service, and the migration should be easy. I have some time to figure it out, so I’m not too worried, just gotta find the right service.

Not The Onion@lemmy.world•Trump Administration Providing Weapons Grade Plutonium to Sam AltmanEnglish
101·1 month agoYes, actually. They’re both different mixes of plutonium isotopes. Iirc reactor grade plutonium is far more stable than weapons grade (because blowing up is less desirable for reactors than bombs), and has some different properties when used.

Just an update: after a few hiccups and a late start, its been chugging along; It’s around 1/3rd of the way done, currently. Didn’t get started until late yesterday, and the process died a few times, but its been running just fine most of today. If i had to guesstimate, it’s probably gotten a good ~12-14 hours of run time to get to this point
