Yeah, in one of the “frozen food shops” near me, I can get 4 chocolate-covered flapjacks for £1 - they’re about 500 calories each, so I can get 1,000 calories for about 50p, if I need to.

This is brilliant. If this was genuinely part of their advertising, I’d probably start eating it, to protect my family from his tyranny :D
That sounds amazing. I’d love to see a photo. I’d planned a similar project with an old radio, but it’s one of those things that’s been on my “I’ll get round to it eventually” list for 5 years :)
In English, “biro” is the generic name for what is known elsewhere as a “ball-point” or “ball pen”. There may of course still be a “Biro” company somewhere, separate to that.
[Edit] I mean English as in “language spoken in England” - I’m sure some of the other “Englishes” use a different word.
I think actual Bic-from-the-Bic-Company biros tend to be pretty good (especially the orange ones with black lids).
For a truly scratchy experience, you need a cheap, unbranded biro.
I guess it’s very much a matter of taste.
Ten years or so earlier, you could still get a TV where the sides of the case were made of wood. Wood, metal and black plastic throughout. Physical buttons that went ‘clunk’, a physical slider to adjust the volume, a metal dial for tuning.
To me, that was peak design.
So this leprechaun guy needs all these things to have a great magical life, but you take them all off him and eat all of them for breakfast, leaving him with a depressing colourless, magic-free world?
Are we the baddies?
It’s not a solid source, but I showed the 1984 Nuclear War film Threads (wiki link) to this box of kittens, to gather their opinions on whether our possible imminent nuclear war would be good or bad for them.
Bless you. You have my sympathies! I wish you luck!
Isn’t there a load of video production jobs round Manchester-ish, or have they all gone now?
Regardless, there’s normally quite a bit of video work available across the M62 corridor (I used to do a lot of freelance video work for many years, and still do occasionally), you shouldn’t need to suffer the horrors of going “Down South”.
I suspect that whoever they sell it to is going to carry on doing exactly the same thing. I’m sure part of the appeal in the sale is all of those “captive audience” shops in train stations etc.
I’ve got quite a lot of racing games - though I tend to only use the Steam Deck for the 3rd person arcade-like fun ones. I prefer realistic sims on a wheel & pedals setup.
Anyway, there’s probably some repeats on here, but these are all ones I have played on Steam Deck and felt worked well.
I tend to use the traditional British methods of sighing, whingeing and moaning.
Moaning about the weather can be done communally at bus stops, to increase comradeship.
Some sort of roman equivalent of “Andrew Taint”.
I believe it’s an artist’s rendering of close-up of a cartoon rabbit’s bumhole.
For international readers, that’s a size 2 in UK/Australia, and approximately a size 33.5 - 34 European.
Apparently it’s also roughly a 210 - 215 mondopoint length.
One of my cats sometimes likes to walk up behind the laptop, push into the lid until it closes, then sit on it.
Make sure your wheelie bin is safe.
People often forget that many wheelie bins find strong winds scary.
Bin owners will often see their bins struggling, either frozen with fear or diving onto the floor or, in the most dangerous circumstances, bolting, rearing up or jumping over walls and fences.
To keep your wheelie bin safe, follow these tips:
Provide hiding places for wheelie bins in your home .e.g. under furniture or a quiet corner.
Don’t stress your wheelie bins by trying to tempt them out. Leave then until they’re ready.
Make sure to keep your wheelie bin inside, somewhere warm, to avoid them becoming stressed.
I generally eat vegetarian food at home, and do need to keep an eye on my protein quantities quite often - but even so, I do feel a little like the “cheeseburger pizza” with “PROTEIN!” written all over it in the “health food” section was stretching definitions a little bit :)
