It’s so nice in this world full of horrible insane headlines to get some of these great positive human interest stories every now and then.

Gonna get it for living room beatsaber and alyx. Ive no existing vr kits so will be my first, have always wanted something to play beatsaber on but didn’t want to add a console or support meta or get something that I thought would be janky.

Yeah but you could save by buying a three pack for only $10!
I hope they all rot.
It feels like the apps started charging an insane amount per message which probably made a lot of people match and then go quiet.
I have travelled to India a few times and the food wasn’t spicer than what I could get here in Kansas.
After some discovery I learned that we use the word spicy differently (although South India Andhra style was a bit hotter).
I was used to using the word spicy to mean the heat level of the food, kinda like a measure of capsaicin. This is how I see Americans use the word.
They were largely using spicy to refer to the volume off spices in a dish, kinda like a measure of “strength of flavor”. This is how I saw various cultures in India use the word.
Those things are often related, but are different in meaningful ways that result in these tropes.

Feminism@lemmy.world•Better Call Mom: Schools Still See Mothers as the Default Parent to Contact
4·1 month agoYeah it hurts her in moments that matter, and I feel like I’m constantly looking crazy when I insist on clarifying communication processes that just get disregarded anyway.
The worst is the dr office, the can only have a single message address for apt reminders…. If I take mom off and put me it will cause a LOT of drama that I don’t need with the dr…. But at the same time mom won’t be showing up or taking her to the appts anyway…
Sorry you got to feel any of that, it’s super not your fault.

Feminism@lemmy.world•Better Call Mom: Schools Still See Mothers as the Default Parent to Contact
14·1 month agoWe are economists who study gender and families. We wanted to understand whether schools themselves might unintentionally contribute to this imbalance by defaulting to contacting mothers more than fathers. Our recent research suggests they do.
As a Dad with majority custody who does all the school coordination, homework, extracurriculars, and various appointments, this is maddening and real. Mom is assumed to be the default parent even when they aren’t.
