one way to not lose a war with china is by not going to war with china. Ok I admit its much more complicated then that, but we should stop thinking that war is somehow inevitable

This would simply be impossible to replicate in the west, for the straight forward reason that trust in the government is so incredibly low.

On a personal impact, I do believe I am much more anti-social as I would have otherwise been. I get paranoid that people around me hate or judge me since that’s what I had read people online doing. In a societal level, there is commentary on the increased fear of judgement in my generation
