Yes. Monitoring GitHub for releases is great (especially if the project posts change logs). Also, if you are a developer and need to monitor library updates for any deps you app might have, many of those sites also have rss feeds. For example: https://libraries.io/
I’m at my laptop all day for work so I use it on my laptop, desktop, and phone so syncing is important. Since it support Google reader api, there are a ton of different clients for it too.
I’ve also set my wife up with her own account and it makes sharing articles and feeds with her easy.
I’m a big self hoster and already have an environment set up for it. I don’t know if it is worth setting up servers and vpns and security just for rss.
I use self hosted FreshRSS. I has:
It is by far the best way to get updates about just the things you care about.
I was at the airport and there was an NBA game on tv and on another tv were Disney characters playing basketball. It took me a while to realize it was the same game.
As a software developer (previously game developer) I was very impressed with how good the tracking was. Not just position, but complicated moves, dribbling the ball between their legs, facial animations, everything with less than a 10 second lag.
The Disney version was way more fun to watch.
In thunderbird there is an option to always add your own email to the bcc list. This will put all your replies directly into your inbox and thread them correctly in the conversation.
This is disgusting. Fortunately my spouse saw the writing on the wall during covid and has left the profession.
It shocks me that we have let huge businesses monopolize all of our hospitals and health care industries.
We are fortunate where I live that the major university runs the bigger hospital, as all the private ones are running like an airline service, over charging, hiring unqualified people, and only looking at the next quarters profits.
I mean joining Mexico sounds better than continuing to let Alabama be Alabama. We’d probably improve our public health, public transit, and healthcare options.
Maybe we could finally get rid of our racist, shitty constitution from the early 1900s (longest constitution in the world!)
Power Metal:
Blind Guardian - Nightfall on Middle Earth is all Tolkien mythology Rhapsody of Fire was created their own middle earth inspired lore and all albums are chapters in it
Black Metal:
Summoning is all about Tolkien mythology including some songs in Elvish.
Voyager. Hell year (1&2)
Mine are over 10 years old and still look great. I wear them everyday and walk several miles a day in them.
Same. They ran it down our street 5 years ago but won’t offer it. A few streets away can get it though…
Jokes on you. We never had Medicaid expansion in Alabama!
No street vehicle should be allowed to do 0-60 in 3 seconds.
Not only should we be putting governors on vehicles, we need to limit hood height, limit acceleration, and use gps to limit speeding.
My in-laws are staying with us this week. Fortunately they both are reasonable and voted Kamala but I have heard nothing but Medicare advantage commercials every 5 minutes as they watch live tv (something we never do).
Medicare advantage is a huge scam that takes all your Medicare money and gives it to private insurance companies. It is shocking that we allow people to be bombarded with this day in and day out. It doesn’t surprise me this same group was bombarded with lies from the right for the past year. Lies that don’t match reality. And as those lies come to light, they will feel duped. But either it will be too late or they are too stubborn to admit it.
Have you considered your local library? A lot of them have an excellent dvd/blu-ray selection especially when it comes to documentaries.
I know it is a little more work but you also get a lot more control of how you rip it.
Also, in the US, many libraries give you free access to the Kanopy streaming service which has a lot of documentaries on it.
My wife and I were doing big renovations on our home and were dealing with lots of contractors. I would email them and include my wife’s email. Yet every contractor failed to press reply all when responding so my wife was constantly left out of the loop
It turns out people just don’t care to think about or understand basic technology.
This stuff really needs to be taught in school (like how we used to have typing and business communication classes)
I’ve had my 13” for about 18 months and it has been a fantastic laptop.
The keyboard is way better than my MacBook m1. The touchpad is comparable (none are as good as Mac touchpads but it is miles ahead of most laptops). Some people complain about the hinges but I’m not sure why. If I’m doing something intensive the fans come on. They certainly aren’t silent but I wouldn’t consider them noisy compared to laptops I’ve had in the past (including my older intel MacBook)
I run fedora mostly out of the box without issues. My one complaint would be lack of S3 sleep which can cause a lot of battery drain during suspend. I use a hybrid approach where it now suspends for 30 minutes then goes into hibernation. That works well although I miss the instant on.
I expect I’ll stay with framework for the future. I haven’t had to do any upgrades or replacements but it is really nice knowing I can.
I am also interested in an egpu but not for gaming, just for running local AI models. Has anyone had any experience with this?
