  • I have been using Language Transfer to learn Spanish, and it is easily the best system I have ever experienced, short of actually living in a foreign country (which is how I learned four of my five languages).

As far as I know, it is completely free but supported by donations. I have been paying $5 per month for several years now, completely worth it!

    The languages they have are:

    • Arabic
    • French
    • German
    • Greek
    • Italian
    • Spanish
    • Swahili
    • Turkish

  • Also, the term “pre-health science”, that “she” used has never been used in Canada as far as I know. We don’t even say pre-med. Either you are in med school, or you are trying to get in, taking a variety of courses. There is no defined set of courses that we call pre-med.

Other differences between us and the US regarding post-secondary education:

Canadian universities are also almost completely free of fraternities and sororities.

We have sports scholarships, but they are nowhere near as lavish as in the US. Sports in general is a minor sideline for Canadian universities.

And to us, college always means community college. University is university (and never “uni” as some benighted countries call it).

  • A Chinese person I know believes that Jews control the entire world. Even China was controlled by the Jews until Xi Jinping came along and tried to throw off the yoke. Apparently, the hooked nose is a dead giveaway for spotting Jews.

Fortunately, she is mostly isolated (by her own choice, she has a vehicle and plenty of time and money to socialize if she wants) aside from communicating online.

She also told me that the Mexican government had been taken over by Freemasons in the 1800s and become extremely hostile to the Catholic Church. Priests were killed or driven out of the country, monasteries and convents were closed, and Church property was forfeited to the state.

Actually, to my greatest astonishment, that last paragraph is completely true. Look up anti-clericalism in Mexico. The remnants of these anti-clerical laws were only removed from the Mexican constitution in 1992.
