  • “Legitimately high ranked” in this context means “claimed he was top 50 by registering for an opt in leaderboard site with under 5,000 users”. He wasn’t good at diablo 4 either. Personally, I’m in the camp that believes he is buying accounts or paying individuals to play accounts for him 90% of the time. Dude even had trash stat distribution in elden ring, his build was both not meta and hardly workable, no stats at a breakpoint, set up to fat roll. No MLGS, just wearing extremely heavy armor and weapons with C int scaling that you get off the ground that way. Plus, tech genius that he is, took a phone picture instead of a screenshot. It would not surprise me to learn he save edited a bad character because the total level was quite high but the hovered weapon was unupgraded.

  • This guy didn’t even consider the other dude’s post and jumped to made up pseudo-logic. This particular type of idiot is one of the worst on the internet. Their whole account is political concern trolling from a fencepost. You’re literally constantly trashing people in your comments too - usually without any examples or explanations. Truly the mark of someone who has no idea what they’re talking about, you have been attacking people for political takes across the spectrum without actually representing any ideas yourself.

If the word syllogism is too scary for you, just say so. It’s not a tough concept, you could self-educate in a week or two, but you’ve gone to being flippant about it with no substance. It’s clear you don’t have a real opinion you’ve thought through on the topic, so I have no idea what the point of this comment was.

  • You’re mistaken. Rednote updated allowing for EN->Mandarin translation for chinese native users and made the settings menu appear in english for english speaking users. The rumors you’ve heard about rednote bifurcating (like Douyin and TikTok) are only rumors.

It amazes me that people will form whole opinions like this with no effort, no personal investigation. You can literally use a vpn to browse it if you’re worried about your data, but I’m willing to bet that you have a marketing machine in your house that you welcomed with open arms. A majority of users on every social media have already had their data sold to every conceivable database, or are young enough that they don’t realize how many datapoints they’re making with their electronic footprint. Think about how likely it is that using a chinese app would actually affect you in any way - we’ve known for years now that health insurance and healthcare companies in the US that aren’t covered by the narrow scope of HIPAA are selling our information, but you’re worried about vine and instagram with storefronts included? Do you even know about marvel SNAP?

  • Both horizon games have excellent colorblind modes and a button that highlights climbable points with high contrast. The paint is only visible without using this mode in the very first tutorial areas or on long/time-limited climbing segments. The game tries very hard to cater to a wide audience, and people still bandwagon on it relentlessly.

  • Microsoft didn’t spend multiple decades trying to force their own chargers and ports over universal standards. Not saying any of them are good, but apple is in no way better and has spent years creating contention between consumers. It’s just as likely they sell your tracking data as anyone else, they spend developer time every month making sure their ecosystem is considered better for cultural reasons while being ostensibly worse than competitors for most things. Their phones are generally a year or more behind competitors but they have made-up features that serve no purpose consumers rally around like imessage. They have a tiny sandbox to play in without completely voiding your warranty - Themes instead of real customization. “Blue bubbles”? Are you kidding me? How about allowing any form of tinkering beyond a garden path? How about supporting repair of devices at their actual branded stores? They’re easily up there as one of the worst for consumers at large.

  • NP don’t bother me at all, but that user intentionally stirs the shit in myriad other ways. Short account lifetime, TONS of replies, intentionally controversial posts, feels the need to comment on every single post that gets traction. I think “we should be nice to AI because it might be alive” has been my least favorite arc so far, close between that and declaring all of lemmy transphobic (in a BZ post no less). Block drag and move on. This post was proof enough for me personally it was a great choice.

  • The biggest risk we see (outside the risks that are the same as those from cigarettes but less severe) is circulatory health risks (vessel function). Sure, you have increased risk of respiratory disease, but not nearly as bad as cigarettes. The real benefit is that most vaporizers and eliquids are not carcinogenic (directly cancer causing) the way cigarette smoking is, so you can lose the added chance of getting cancer while titrating nicotine dosage down to nothing over a longer period; one of the main failure points of nicotine gums and patches is that they aren’t effective methods for pack-a-day smokers, the usual suggested regimens have them in withdrawal headaches and brain fog quickly and many smokers quit quitting on week one or two.

We have dozens of ten year studies with HUGE N already. Read them. Check out the REPRIEVE trial data. If you seriously think every single one of the currently available studies and trial results are not “legit science data” you’re insane.
