  • I am not Muslim and to me cutting the throat of a cow does not sound like something God wants people to be doing to celebrate him. Aside from that, you are the one who gets to decide what you do as you’ll be the one bearing the consequences. Both the option of repeating it next year and not will have results you might like or might not like. Best advise I can give is to look at the reasoning behind why you would make a certain choice. Try to uncover what your intentions are. And this is in no way meant cynical, try to uncover what God wants for you to do.

  • Great step in the right direction I think, but I hope people won’t be fooled thinking this is a step from zero autonomy to full autonomy:

Mistral’s dual announcement of infrastructure and model capabilities signals the company’s ambition to become a comprehensive AI platform rather than just another model provider. With backing from Microsoft and other investors, the company has raised over $1 billion and continues to seek additional funding to support its expanded scope.

  • We also shouldn’t forget Russian command will be willing to do things Nato won’t, like bombing civilians or forcing people to join the army. They might for example threaten to execute a pow or retaliate by using chemical weapons. If two parties are not fighting by the same rules, it won’t be all about who has the biggest military power. I think you’re right on their losses not being sustainable, although I think they’ll be more likely to choose more desperate measures than they’d consider retreating.

The U.S. has a long history of troop deployments against protest movements, from the U.S.’s crackdown on the civil rights movement to the infamous shooting and killing of anti-war protesters at Kent State.

However, while the National Guard has been deployed against U.S. activists numerous times throughout history, historians say that the deployment of active duty Marines against Americans is unprecedented, and an escalation of anti-protest tactics at a time when Trump is grasping at every opportunity to seize power, suppress dissent and push the U.S. toward martial law.

  • The Federal Department of Justice and Police (FDJP), a Swiss authority responsible for overseeing law enforcement and public security, wants to impose a new rule that would grant it extensive surveillance powers over online communications.

Keep in mind, this change wouldn’t go to a vote in Parliament and could be ratified without much public disclosure. If enacted, private encrypted email and messaging services like Proton Mail, Threema, and others could be seriously affected. And don’t even get me started on what this could mean for VPN providers.

Moreover, users might be required to hand over personal information, like a phone number or official ID, making anonymous sign-ups nearly impossible.

And it gets even worse — organizations would be required to hand over user data in plain text when requested, except for messages that are securely end-to-end encrypted between users.
